To quote the "General Game Rules" section of each category's ruleset: "Timing is done using the in-game file timer, please refrain from taking long breaks mid-run."
Most people might suggest giving the game another playthrough or two before trying to speedrun it. You should build confidence in your gameplay before attempting.
It's an ingame option. It's allowed.
Yeah, it doesn't care about subcategories when you click that. This is the wrong place to post, I'd refer you to https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/onfz6 if you want to provide feedback.
We're expecting this to be quickly patched out as it's an unintended bug that casual players will be affected by.
If anything having it in its optimal spot so far has messed me up. I noticed the same thing but I really don't care. I'm adjusting and focusing more on my gameplay than anything else. Following the logic of EtD, I'm guessing nothing will be done about it. It's just an extra thing to check for the mods and an extra step for runners to take which could end in them having a fine run rejected for a bad reason.
My run was on GameBoy Player.
I think the reason behind this is that certain people define "platform" differently than others.
You can see it as literally which release of the game you're playing (many games were released on ps1+n64+dreamcast, then other games on ps2+gc+xbox, etc). Or it can be seen in terms of exactly what you played on. I believe originally when leaderboards were being set up, the platform options weren't as vast and open as they are now, and the former option was chosen in a lot of cases. I think now, it's generally agreed that the latter option is what's meant to be used, as there are some platforms that actually have no games, and are only a vessel to play other platform's games on.
It's no wonder the blistering pace of submitted runs came to a halt 9 years ago. Rest in peace...
Video finally added today, because I have a powerful enough computer to not crash while creating this monster video. Enjoy.
Could we get some more detailed information on our own speedruns? In game statistics, we can see most recent runs, total hours of playtime for a game, etc. On personal profiles, I can only see that I have 1066 runs, but I'm curious to know the sum of my current PBs (rta), sum of IL pbs, sum of all obsolete/current runs, etc. I think there's just an opportunity for numbers to be seen that might be interesting to some people :)
I don't know what you mean. For example, here is the order of my level runs games.
Ape Escape (19 runs) Super Monkey Ball 2: Sakura Edition (3 runs) Insaniquarium Deluxe (2 runs) Diddy Kong Racing DS (2 runs) Super Monkey Ball Adventure (8 runs) Spyro: Year of the Dragon (7 runs) Monkey Climber (6 runs) Eversion (4 runs) Banjo-Pilot (2 runs) Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! (8 runs) Terraria (36 runs) 10 Second Ninja (8 runs) Not Another Needle Game (11 runs) Clicker Heroes (2 runs) Miniclip Rally (6 runs) Super Mario Sunshine (1 run) On A Roll 3D (3 runs) Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (9 runs) Nicktoons Racing (GBA) (4 runs) Happy Wheels (2 runs) Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage (7 runs) Celeste (17 runs) (MOST RECENT) Disney's 102 Dalmantians: Puppies to the Rescue (2 runs) World's Hardest Game (19 runs)
From what I can tell, there's really no pattern. Not by most recent, most number of runs, most number of runners, nothing. I like the look of the table and being able to see my PBs all in a concise location, but scrolling down to the 3rd from the bottom to see the one I currently care for the most just seems weird.
In light of what's being said above, I'd like to take charge of this board: https://www.speedrun.com/dmvt
I don't know what submissions there are pending but it's a game I care about (as seen in /forum) and it's not hard. Sucks that he stopped caring.
I'd like the ability to see a list of all Individual Level games on my profile and shift around the charts to my liking. As it is, it's not alphabetical or by most recent run so it's really confusing and bothersome to see my most active/recent near the bottom.
Added you as a mod because you modded the other game's page and it isn't fair for you to just all of a sudden not be a mod, but I don't mind making the chart. Had a busy day yesterday so all I got to was full-game and picture/url.
Requesting a series for WALL-E
First page is here: https://www.speedrun.com/wallexpw Other versions have been submitted as game requests.
That first page formerly had all versions of the game. I talked with Granolant about making a split for the games and he was keen on the idea. He removed remnants of the PC/PS2 and DS versions. Yes, we could quite easily have 3 different pages and that is done often on speedrun.com, but a series would make it easier for people to still find all 3 versions (speedrun.com/walle won't be used for a specific version) and we can more easily share a theme between the 3 games to make them stay unified. This is not a classic PS2/GC/XBOX game type where they can easily be combined, they are all different versions with different developers and game length/mechanics/requirements.
Additionally (sadly), while talking with Granolant, we lost about 8 runs from PC/PS2 that should've been exported or archived for later use, so if there's any way to dig that up, I would definitely appreciate it. I don't want those users to not find their runs and blame me for losing them somehow. It happened about 10 minutes before posting this if that helps at all.
Thanks for your help!
Edit: Garadas added the games but there still is no series or theme possibilities, and I'd still like followup on the possibilities of recovering lost runs!
Some controllers whether dpad or analog give the same results as keyboard feathers. It shouldn't matter what input is used, and feathers alone shouldn't demand a split or even specification imo.
Also, in some cases keyboard has an advantage over controller. Try holding an up diagonal against a wall and climb on analog. You need an angle pointing higher than usual to climb, even if your direction would be a diagonal dash. With controllers that have full analog support, the angles chosen need to be extremely specific, and there are more than 8 results depending on the situation. Find an input method that works for you, even if you're Peekingboo, and use it.
