None that I know of and while annoying I think it's fair since it's the same for everyone.

You're right, but since we had just 2 runs in the last 2 years I suspect that the NTSC board will be left for a long time with just the new run from DrMooCowz and I think it would be nice for him to be in the same league and to compete with everyone else.

IMO, of course.

Also I agree with your calculation of 9m6s600.

BTW, kudos to DrMooCowz for using a real C64, I gave away mine years ago.

It wouldn't be easier and stimulate the competition to keep all runs in one board by taking into account the PAL and NTSC speeds differences? It should be sufficient to multiply the NTSC times by 1.2.

What do you think?

Could be interesting. I would definitely play more if I could focus on just one race at a time. But by "more" I mean "more than not playing at all" 😃

Enforce the FrameRateMax rule is actually quite easy because with high framerates the bikes stay almost vertical even in the the tightest corners, but in fact I cannot exclude that some settings combination can solve the visual glitch while retaining the advantages.

Ananas is the wise one: consistent and effortless is the way! :D

I just read your post in the other thread. I understand the reasoning behind those calculation now. I still think time should be calculated as I stated before, but the "total track time" could be shown in a new column along with the "real time", as for example in Mario Kart 64 leaderboard (https://www.speedrun.com/mk64).

Hi, I'm glad you're back! I was starting to lose hope, lol My total tracks time should be 27:50.

I agree with you: if we only calculate track time it means that the player can takes his time in-between the races and I think this is against the spirit of speedrunning a full game where you have to overcome difficulties not only from the game itself, but also from his UI. IMO the current rules are perfect: time starts at the selection of your bike before the first race and stops when you cross the finish line of the last race. It's easy and straightforward and it doesn't need a lot of measurements and calculations.

If we really want to keep track of lap times I suggest to do it track by track in a "Levels leaderboard" as many other games do, taking advantage of the Time Attack mode built-in in Moto Racer.

About the FPS, times are not directly tied to FPS, but grip is. Running the game with -FrameRateMax90 or -FrameRateMax0 (unlimited framerate) increases the grip allowing to easily lower you times. Therefore I would enforce the usage of the standard (at least in the GOG version) -FrameRateMax60 command line parameter.

Hello everyone,

I'm currenty running Moto Racer on Easy/PC, but I'm a little confused: in the rules is clearly stated that "Timing starts when you select your bike on the first track/press start button" and "Timing ends when you cross the finish line on the last track on reverse" and this is how I was timing my runs. But only today (my bad) I payed attention to description of the Whitzwolf run and his 29m48s is calculated without loading and selection screens. So, which one is the correct method?

Also, I was thinking, if the loading time are actually left out, what's the point in keeping the pre-race count down? I mean, wouldn't it be simpler and more straight forward to just sum the in game timers of the races?

Thank you

Edit: I just noticed that 1st and 2nd entry in the leaderboard are without loading time, while 3rd one is with.

Can't we at least strongly suggest (if not enforce) the usage of WolfMAME and inp files for the emulated arcade versions? They are not, like everything else, 100% foolproof, but they are very hard to tamper with, surely beyond the average user capabilities, and they are used since forever in the arcade community to validate scores.

"If doing this generates more runs submitted to the board, I'm all for it."

I'm with you with this 👍

I don't get it. Wouldn't it be easier and cleaner to just filter the Full-game Leaderboard by character if someone is interested in the best run for a specific character?

I mean, I don't foresee a fierce (or HP for SF2 players ) competition in the near future on this game to justify such a fine organization.
