Again, check the guides page out and watch some of the individual level records, preferably factory. I describe in detail how to get a consistent cheese throw and you’ll be able to compare from the sounds in the vids to an extent
Go and look at the any% IL runs on the site and watch those records. Practice each level individually while trying to get consistent at those routes in the vids and it won’t take any time at all for you to catch on. You’ll probably end up cutting almost half of your time off within the first week or so haha. OH and also, check the guides page out. I’m working on a full any% “walkthrough” that will hopefully help out immensely, it’s still in the works though
I will say one thing, getting the any% glitch time down to sub 3:50 will be a much larger moment than the sub 4 minute was. Whoever gets that first will forever be immortalized as the rat king
Oh hell yeah 😎 I like the sound of that. Maybe you’ll give me more of a run for my money than Jonas
For cheese throwing you just want to alternate between jumping (B button) and cheese throwing (A button), and yes make sure you do not hold jump, only a quick press. You can push the bottle through the water without falling in as long as you don’t get hit by an enemy, in this case wasps and birds
I just started putting together an in-depth any% guide last night as well. You’ll find details there on cheese throwing, coin/cheese jumping etc. Oh and on the wall/floor clipping you mentioned. There’s never really a time you’ll use that technique outside of the boss fight but it is allowed in any% glitch runs
If you’re looking for an awful game, this will be a very good candidate 🤣 Bottle and hat pushing are core parts of the game and is something the developers meant for you to be able to do. The only thing at this point that really counts as a glitch is cheese throwing. Look at some of the guides and it’ll kinda explain in more detail. Good luck with your runs! Would be cool to see someone take my man Jonas’ 2nd place spot 😉
Rip, the 1 year anniversary of the first ever documented dongo adventure any% speedrun with a time just under 9 minutes has passed by last monday. I forgot to order a rat cake.. better luck next time
The sewer cycle manip I wouldn’t consider a glitch as it’s only useful at the very beginning of each run, it just allows you to pass by the sewage without having to stop and wait. There’s cycle manipulation on every level I believe, but at this point I don’t think it would save any time worrying about it on any%. I don’t think it would save any time as the cycles you run into when nonstop sprinting are actually pretty good lol
I wouldn’t consider starting a level at a specific time to gain an extra cheese allowing you to pull a major skip that’s possible only when you have that extra cheese to be part of the game’s intended design though. When you first play the game and there is no progress made through it at all, you’ll begin every level with 9 cheese. Playing through the game after you’ve beaten it you can start each level about half a second late and gain an extra cheese allowing you to start with 10 so I would consider it a glitch personally
I guess this thread can act as a place to bring any new glitches and general dongo news up lol. At this point cheese throwing, cycle and cheese manipulation, wall/ceiling clipping and damage boosting are the only notable glitches used in any% and 100% glitch runs. It’s currently a race for the first sub 4 minute any% glitch run with Mr. jonasty looking dangerously close to taking the W. But with sir itchy coming back from hiatus and having a very similar time with only a fraction of the amount of attempts, who’s to say where those bragging rights are going... 🤔
Cheese throwing and wall/floor clipping are the only currently known glitches in the game that could be used to improve your run times, but there’s certainly more to be discovered
