You submitted the exact same run twice; one was accepted, one was rejected. There's no reason to put both on the leaderboards.
The types of wolves that spawn in vary, which changes the strategies you can use in one level compared to another.
As an update to the Razinuh situation, the mod team has collectively agreed that both his original submission and subsequent submission for Deep in the Windy Valley were cheated, and will not be accepted to the leaderboards. After further discussion, we have also taken steps in order to ban him indefinitely from the site. Thanks to everyone for weighing in on the situation.
Good catch. The web version wasn't known about at the time the leaderboard was created, and when we added the browser leaderboard, we forgot to add "Web" as a platform. Should be fixed now.
Considering Nintendo is still coming out with new Ninjis, and each of them has its own (and much more precise) leaderboard, it's highly unlikely a Ninji category will be added.
Didn't realize the pirate ship was an available map, so that's why it hadn't been added until now. Leaderboards have been added for that stage now!
Yup, pause buffering is definitely allowed, Qwerty! All that matters in terms of time is the in-game timer. (Obviously the mods won't be too happy if you take a twenty minute pause in the middle of an IL, but I assume that's not why you're asking. XD)
In playing the game over the past couple weeks, I've come across a few glitches I wanted to dump here.
The first one has the potential to kill runs, and has already killed at least three of my own. I call it the quicksand glitch:
It doesn't seem to happen when I throw the fruit after I've reached the main island, so I assume it's caused by where your character is positioned when you throw the fruit.
I found the second glitch in the second room of the Gravyta monument:
For some reason, the hover platform can hover a little before you reveal the coins. It seems to be pretty inconsistent though, and when I have gotten it to hover, it doesn't stay airborne for more than a second. If we can figure out how to float it all the way to the next corridor, that could potentially save a good chunk of time.
The last glitch has only happened to me once, and it's pretty self-explanatory:
I have no idea what caused this, but the squid's hitbox was no longer present, and I wasn't getting hit by lasers anymore (nor could I tell if lasers were even being fired). Unfortunately, I got hit by a falling rock before I could finish the fight, so I don't know what happens if you beat the boss while in this state. That said, it did respawn after the room reset, and the fight went on as normal.
It's entirely possible that if you finish phase 3 while the boss is missing, you won't be able to collect the Antigrav Unit, but we'd need to test this to know for sure. If it turns out you can still collect it, this would make the fight a heck of a lot easier to manage.
I've played around with it on Cocoamoss and haven't found anything so far, so hopefully that means everything is working as intended!
Thanks a ton, DDRKirby! :D I really can't express how grateful I am that you're still taking input and tweaking the game this far down the line.
That screen is beautiful. XD Why can't the whole game be like that already?
Regarding the clipping out of bounds, this is essentially what it entails:
Fortunately it's not a soft-lock in this instance, but it's possible it could become one if it can be recreated elsewhere. That said, I'm not sure how the game would respond to Nyamo trying to fall downward into a screen that doesn't exist, so that would at least be good information to have.
I think it has to do with if you gain too much downward momentum, but every once in a while, you can clip Nyamo through the floor, and he'll slowly start to sink through the platform. I'll try to recreate it and share a video demonstrating the glitch shortly.
Yeah, I'd guess it's your computer, NoJoTo, because I don't have that issue.
And Raiu, if DDRKirby is asking about improvements, it might be worth mentioning the addition of a New Game+ that intentionally starts you off with all the items, but resets the eggs. Besides that, the only other thing I can think of is the glitch that puts you out of bounds if you fall just the right way. (I can elaborate further if you don't know what I mean by that.) That's basically it though; the game's already really well made!
It might be fun as a New Game+ category, but that would require it to be consistent and intentional to be reasonable.
To further elaborate, you don't NEED a visible timer, but it does make it easier on the mods. Sometimes we need to check milliseconds to see whether a run should be a second faster/slower, which means checking a video frame by frame. Having a visible number for that process is just a lot more convenient.
I had this happen once before. It actually happened right after the last time I played it casually before deciding I wanted to speedrun it, funnily enough, but I couldn't tell you what causes it in the first place.
I was looking through the Statistics page, and I noticed that most of the obsolete runs have been wiped. From what I can tell, this was probably an unintentional result of moving all of the No Skips runs to the No Skips category after the category split had to be established, as all the obsolete runs submitted after the change, as well as each runner's best time, are still there. Is it possible to recover all the obsolete runs, or will everyone need to reupload all their old PBs to resolve the issue?
