So I think that we should do more to set ourselves apart from other games and leaderboards. So here are some more suggestions.
-
a lot of leaderboards have a custom "Speedrun.com" logo so I've taken the liberty of creating one myself. Here's the Link: https://tinyurl.com/y8wsbtae I used the font that looked the closest to the Just Dance Font that I could find (trust me I looked) Unfortunately, I don't have photoshop, so I had to use a minimal free editor, so the text doesn't have cool colors on the side and doesn't fully look 3d like the Just Dance 2020 cover art but it is something at least. I think it should be used on all the JD games since the only one that doesn't use this font is JD1 which isn't even on the series page (it should be despite its quality).

The "themes" need some changes as well. I think the "primary color" (I'm going off of the options I have for my profile I don't know if that what it's called for mods) should be white with the panel color being specifically #E31E85 or #E92E8F because it's these 2 variants of pink used when collecting a song. here's a picture of what I'm talking about: https://tinyurl.com/ydf7crn3 Notice how the text is white and the color of the background is both those varients of pink (I used an eyedropper tool) The background color should be either #32CBC4 or #2FD799 because on the far right menu there is a horizontal gradient between these 2 colors. Here's a picture of what I mean: https://tinyurl.com/y7tgtsqt After trying all of these on my own profile I found them to look quite nice but this is obviously the mods' choice. As for the banner or Background image, I can either make a "Just Dance 2020 speedrunning" horizontal image for the banner with my font or if instead, the mods want to use a background image then there are plenty of horizontal posters for Judt Dance 2020 they can use or can send me to add "speedrunning" underneath.
If you couldn't tell by now: I really like Just Dance.
So I noticed that when I ran Sweat and Playlist and got the same position (as in player color on to because I'm using Kinect) more than once the calories burned did not reset per song like they do in the new-gen version of JD2019-JD2021. This means If I burned 15 calories on the first song at the beginning of the second (assuming I got the same player color because I'm on Kinect) it would display 15 kcal at the start and then add on top of it however many I get in the second song. This could be a problem with the nonstop pop category with 1 of the requirements to continue doing the run is to burn at least 10 kcal every song.
I see 2 solutions
-
The runner has to keep track of how many calories they're burning with each song and put a list of the songs they played and how many calories they burned in them in order in the description section of the submission form.
-
Instead of the runner have the mod keep track when verifying the run and simply ask the runner to submit an edited version of their submission where the point at which they failed the 10 kcal requirement and onward would be cut.
This also probably applies to the old-gen versions of JD2016-JD2020.
Okay 2 things

Just Dance 2015 does not have the option to create a custom playlist so the 30' playlist category is impossible BUT the game does have an option for it to generate a 40' playlist. The problem with that being that in reality it only gives you 10 randomly picked songs which depending on the order and which songs can make it impossible to get a perfect 30' so it should just be changed to 40' and have the fun be getting the perfect order of songs.
-
Unlike the new-gen versions of JD2019-JD2021 JD 2015 on ALL versions has the option for the nonstop shuffle of songs option so rules 4 and 5 in the corresponding category don't make any sense since the 3 random song feature was actually added in the new-gen version of JD2016.
So the current WR for 5 stars submission's video is currently unavailable and I'm pretty sure the new mods assigned to this game haven't seen it which means that it's unverifiable and it should be taken down from here.
I've noticed that some leaderboards use custom placement medals for the first, second, and third place. Well the JD wiki page has the files for the "Yeah", "perfect", "Super", "Good", and "ok" feedback you can get so why not use those for 1st to 5th place. Or if you can't do more than 3 then use the gold, silver, and purple star icons they also have on there. I just want this and the 2021 leaderboard to be more unique. The file can be seen here: https://justdance.fandom.com/wiki/Just_Dance_2019#Game_Files It's the files for JD2019 but they're the same for both 2020 and 2021.
So I'm sure we've all seen the leak on the Microsoft store where for a couple of minutes/hours Just Dance 2021 was listed but unavailable for purchase. It's thanks to this leak that we now have confirmation that KJust Dance 2021 is happening. What will happen to the Just Dance 2020 leaderboards once it's officially released? Will the same thing that happened to every other game in this series happen again where even the mods abandon them? That's why I haven't attempted any runs for the older games because it doesn't even seem like the mods are even there to approve or reject. I hope the mods we have here will transition to modding 2021 but still mod here when necessary. I love Just Dance 2020 and "speedrunning" it has given it a brand new life for me so I would hate to see it tossed away like every other game in the series. I just want to know what is the plan for when it releases and inevitably gets added to the list of games to speedrun.
I see we have once again added a new category to the leaderboards and that fantastic! but I have some problems with the way its setup.
- It shouldn't ranked by the lowest times considering that means I can do 1 JDU song and get WR.
- This limits people that can't afford/ otherwise don't have JDU
- The "example" that I hope will be deleted after an actual attempt is submitted is a run for a completely different category.
There should be a category where the goal is to play the game as much as possible. Think like the Memerun category of Getting Over It where the point is to have the longest time rather than the shortest. Here my ideas for how it will work/ the rules.
- Sweat mode must be on at all times
- Timing is based of the in-game sweat timer not realtime.
- You must score at least 1 star and 10 calories per song (so people don't leave the game running which would be cheating. I also set the bar low so those that aren't the best dancers can still place.)
- If 30 seconds go by without dancing then timing stops (So people can't take breaks in between songs which would be considered cheating)
- You must have the 3 random song option enabled (For quick song selection because of the 30-second rule)
- Video proof is required (obviously)
- Pauses are allowed but must be less than 30 seconds
- Have fun! :)
Obviously JD 2020 doesn't have a "Non-stop" option like JD2 -JD2017 which is why I suggest the 3 random songs option. Thank you for reading if you did and please consider my suggestion!
The only rules there is that
- You have to dance.
- You have to do it as fast as possible. Here are my questions.
- If we have to dance then do we need a specific score because the game considers a score of 1 to be dancing. (As in it bothers to show you your score and all that)
- Well of course we have to do it fast what is this Slowrun.com?
- When exactly do we start the timer? When we start the first song or when we enter the mode?
- When does the timer end? When we finish High Hopes or when the cutscene starts?
- The game lets you skip the cutscenes if you've already seen it after entering the mode for the first time so the fact that we are allowed to skip cutscenes means there's new game+ which should be banned which is why we should start the timer entering the mode because the cutscenes are unskippable then. So should we or should we not skip the cutscenes because being able to do so means new game+?
- Do we have to use a camera to prove that we are "Dancing" or at least what the game considers dancing? I ask this because the WR on this doesn't so how are we sure they're "dancing"?
- What does "dancing" mean if you're on Switch or not using the cameras on the other consoles because just moving the controller vaguely to the songs gets counted in-game so do you actually have to put in the effort?
- If you are going to require a score then should it be 5 stars, superstar or megastar?
- Shouldn't we have multiple categories for All-star mode that have other score types? (Ie. 1 category is for 5 stars another for superstar and another for megastar) Overall I'm making this because I'm butt-hurt that I don't have WR.
