Hey don't compare yourself to others too hard, compare to your own self, you are better than you once were and that's a W
And so it begins. I'm so curious to see more levels optimized like this. Great run and grats on the new tiny skip
You actually did it! A true rat master! I remember when we were discussing whether sub 3 was possible, look how far we have come
Yooo new skip!! I name it the Pigeon Skip, so cool, and you have insanely good movement! If you do my new windmill skip in my most recent seaside run that I submitted here earlier, I think you can achieve sub 2 minutes :D
(begins run) "we can get a lot more sexual than that-" lol. Great run!
Grats on joining the sub 3 minute club!! I now pronounce you a true RAT
Hey all! I'm the solo dev of Rat Climber and throughout the various patches, I've tried to make the game as accessible to speedrunners as possible and make everyone's lives easier, with stuff like an automatic in-game timer that starts upon moving, resets to zero when you restart a run, and individual level splits all automatic and built into the game. Here's my personal run (currently 2nd fastest run in world):
I'm trying to see what else my game is missing; like what would get you to pick up my game and become interested in running it? The community is extremely small and I'm having trouble growing it, half of the runs on the game's speedrun board here are done by me (there is one other person who has WR and is faster than me though!)
I want nothing more than a bunch of runners to pick it up and begin optimizing it and finding new routes, that is so extremely fun for me to watch but I've been doing it all myself and found about 95% of all skips and shortcuts in my own game throughout the past few months and have been sharing them with the other few runners
I think with a new set of eyes and enthusiasm, the game could be pushed a lot farther, not just speed wise but content-wise, which is why I asked what you guys might think Rat Climber is missing
I would love to hear any and all feed back
Thank you!!
Yoo congrats, great run!! Very fun to finally see someone else join the leaderboards!
Insane. It has happened. You are the rat ruler who makes all da rules. I always knew in my rat heart sub 30 was possible!!
Congrats, you really earned this one!!! You play unbelievably well in seaside now, this is mindblowing. Now that we both have the same skips knowledge more or less, there's no way I'm ever beating you again unless new stuff is found.
Don't beat yourself up too hard about having a potential sub 30, the nature of speedrunning is you have infinite attempts, it's not like this was the last time you are ever allowed to try
You are 100% right by the way about what you said, I never wanted to speedrun my game but I did it anyway and practiced a lot purely to show every one the route and skips and to inspire others to take up the challenge, all in the name of growing the community and adding a little fun competitiveness into the scene. I still really hope a true seasoned speedrunner picks up the game one day and blows us both out of the records, it will be so fun to watch. Until then, enjoy your #1 spot as I have no desire or skill left to beat your 32m time
Very nice very nice! I am jealous at how casual you can seem to speedrun while weaving in reading and talking to people. Even with the swamp pond section happening, this was quite solid. I really hope someone else starts running this game, it will be so fun to have a 3rd party pushing us both, don't you think?
Very nice run! I will let you know that this zone is about to get so much easier for us specifically to speedrun. I have a patch cooking up and I have smoothed this path out even further without it really altering our muscle memory of this route, esp the few spots that are causing us undue stress. I want the game to be more fun and less "rng if physics allowed the jump" so sub 3 will be the norm after my patch. I also am working on letting you choose which zone to respawn in each time, so players can have a proper individual level practice session for zones besides the first one
Hi all! If you like RATS and precision platformers, consider trying to run my solo-developed game Rat Climber!

I'm borderline obsessed with polishing it and adding everything that everyone has ever asked for after playing it. I really am curious how speedrunners would like my game and how they think I could improve it. Thank you!
