I would clarify that we don't deactivate Jaffar. We just take advantage of the fact he takes time to activate in the first place. And as Vel said it loses time to the fastest RNG, only saves a couple of frames on average but eliminates RNG.
Yep it does not, IGT is pretty consistent across machines. Also if you are feeling the game is running too slow, make sure to set the correct cycle count in the DOSBox settings.
Hi, Currently only version 1.4 is allowed for DOS categories, and the only emulator allowed is DOSBox 0.74-3. The in-game timer script is designed to work with this specific setup, and it also makes it hard to cheat since it doesn't have readily available input recording. Furthermore, as smooth and faithful SDLPoP is, it does have some minor inaccuracies from the original DOS version of the game, especially when it comes to how it handles bugs. For speedruns, it's critical that the bugs work exactly as it is in the original version of the game.
@YUMmy_Bacon5 Yup, seems like it. I was actually checking if there is a way to make tables and it actually seems like there kinda is. I was looking for a better way to put my split times now that splitsio is going to close and I came up something like this:

@VelCheran Thanks! My goal for this category is to go as far as possible with no level 7 skip, safe level 9 ending and no yolo skip. And also without any late level guard jumps. I can shave at least a minute off this run using the same strats, and then we'll see how far I am willing to go :)

I would like to give the following suggestions:
- Bring back the ability to add splits in submissions. In addition, display IGT instead of real time splits if the same is selected in splits.io
- Misc. sub-categories used to go in a separate dropdown, which was really nice. Bring it back.
- The default theme is visible for a second when the page loads, even with decent internet speed.
- Give the option of showing only one run but all categories at once for IL leaderboards.
- The markdown is broken is many guides. For example here. Can be manually fixed but it's annoying that there was a issue in the auto conversion to the new system.
@Shauing Ok, I understand the level 18 death better now. IMO the kill potion shouldn't even be mandatory. In DOS we make damaging potions mandatory because even though it's a detrimental potion taking them allows us to clear the level map more thoroughly before finishing it. Seems like the kill potion is completely missing this point as it's just going to respawn on level restart. (Correct me if I am wrong).
I also don't understand why the level 11 death is necessary. I watched the video and you were talking about some paths. Is it really only possible to choose one path in a run, or is the death just to avoid some backtracking?
Edit: Ok, I understand the image post above in this threat. Sounds like an interesting problem. The solution for now sounds reasonable but let's say we hypothetically find a "real" solution, then all runs prior to that would suddenly become invalid.
It's just that the whole aesthetic of the 100% runs is that your character is as powerful as possible, and all the world events have been triggered in the current save. IMO unless the game tracks the collectibles after death, re-grab should be mandatory. Whether the said death is intentional or unintentional is out of question.
We have this interesting thing in PoP:WW where it's allowed to death abuse or quit and load save after getting chests. That's primarily because the game tracks the unlocked item in a gallery in the main menu and it doesn't reset after quitting or dying. If this game has such a gallery, then maybe it can be defined around that.
It makes sense to me that he knows about some tricks but not others, because as far as I can tell discussion regarding this game is pretty scattered. Here, and in some TASVideos forums. "Universal" doesn't mean much in an universe consisting of basically you and challenger, lol.
