I have added a split between Legacy runs and 1.1.1+ runs in Arcade. There's small differences in story mode too but not significant enough for a split in my opinion. Might do something about Ruby VS Battle 1 in the future as the AI seems to behave differently in modern day.
This is late but I can make a version split for the leaderboard if other active moderators are okay with it as well
Late reply but Sonic and Tails is allowed in the Sonic category
No problem, make sure the whole window is being captured so it says that you are running on mGBA.
You gotta use mGBA because VBA is not an accurate emulator. The issue with VBA is that there are more lag frames because it's an older emulator. The same rules apply for Sonic Advance 1 and 3. mGBA is very easy to install, you can just look it up and go to mgba.io and then download the most recent build.
I added Virtual Bunibon and put in rules for the timing. If there's interest in it, I can add the whale car minigame, as a score attack.
At the start of a save file, you press pause at a certain time to be in the pause menu at the same time as the cutscene.
In this first video, I advance the cutscene through the options menu. The game lets me play through the entire thing without unpausing. The IGT is frozen in this paused state. I have gotten a time of 0:00.017 with this glitch.
In this second video, I use the pause glitch to unpause during the cutscene instead. The IGT still somewhat works in this state. I figured out later on that the timer is frozen in the first two rooms but it fixes itself after that. This is also unsure to actually be useful at all, since I don't know how it interacts with the Itan softlock exactly.
I think the first exploit should definitely be banned. The second one probably too. I don't know if the second glitch is actually useful or not. If it always causes Itan softlock then it is useless.
Just thought you all should know that the discord link doesn't work and should probably be a permanent link.
Hello, I am looking to become a Super Moderator for the game "Card City Nights". There are only 2 runners, and there are 0 moderators for the game, as the only moderator for the game has been banned indefinitely.
I have been running the game for a week now and have made my first submission. I'm not sure who else could become a mod for it, besides the runner that hasn't been banned, which I have DM'd and am awaiting a response.
https://www.speedrun.com/ccn Here is the src page.
In 100% it does matter. Any other category it does not matter.
Gonna let the moderators know that the discord link for this game is invalid. It's probably an expired link.
Something that I didn't notice any runs implement, so I wanted to make a post about it here. I noticed the timer adds up between levels as points, in intervals of ones, then tens, then hundreds. So with this in mind, it's actually faster to end the level with either 100 seconds, 10 seconds, or 1 second. This can easily be achieved by holding the "abort" button midway through each level, which makes the timer tick down super fast.
Here's a video as proof: https://giphy.com/gifs/STTSxbMMX3LSQpiNU7
Seems that you'd optimally want to route the timing of the abort button to leave you with 10 seconds left, as you would lose a little less time if you made a small mistake. For safety strats, end with 100 seconds probably. It seems like it's not a lot initially, but if the runner does a lot of them successfully then it could save a decent chuck of time.
@TheTaze Unfortunately due to emulation inaccuracies, Project64 is not allowed. Rulesets for emulators were never fully developed. There is some discussion on Dolphin in the Yoshi's Story Speedrunning discord. We were talking about letting Dolphin onto the Any% leaderboards unless if it's a Top 3 time, simply because the loading times are 20 frames faster.
@Synkh WiiVC is overall faster due to faster screen transitions, despite the slower soft resets. N64 isn't too slow for non melon categories, only losing about 2 seconds in Any%. I would recommend using WiiVC if you are grinding for a competitive time in any of the melon categories. WiiUVC has slower resets and slower transitions.
Play US over EU if you can. JP is put on a different leaderboard for the following -Does not save so you cannot soft reset between levels -Fair number of physics differences -JP has some different glitches that don't exist in US -Different melon placements in a few levels -Miscellaneous gameplay differences
