Yes. Leaderboards are split due to routes being very, very different.
"Just didnt want to compete in a game on a platform that cant keep up with PC is all"
It's the same as having to use a different version of a game to get a better time.
IIRC, someone said the in-game timer still goes up when the game is paused. They also said it goes up during cutscenes, so in-game time is just really pointless.
The problem with in-game time is that aside from usually being pretty inaccurate, you could technically "pause" your run by going to the title screen.
Of course, that could just not be allowed, but I think not using in-game time at all would be the better option overall.
Tooie doesn't have ILs though, and that's probably why.
Load times on PC are usually faster, especially if you're running the game off of an SSD, so PC will probably end up being the fastest, unless there happens to be some kind of exclusive glitch on the console versions or whatever.
The game is not being optimized for consoles first, as the PC version is the primary one, and the console ports are being done separately by Team 17. Also, the Toybox is available on console, but it runs at 30 FPS IIRC, and has frequent framerate drops from what I've heard.
Because it would take longer to drop all of the money bags on the ground outside and pick them back up over and over.
Mod names seem to be going past the sidebar on the Yooka-Laylee page: http://www.speedrun.com/yl
I guess it's not long enough to wrap to the next line or something
EDIT: Seems to happen on Chameleon Twist as well: http://www.speedrun.com/ctwist1
"Nvm saw the rules, how retarded."
Emulator has a massive time advantage due to saving/loading the town instantly. No other game would allow emulator in that situation (Which they don't...).
I don't think it matters. It might save/load slower if it has other content on it, but no one has tested that AFAIK
I posted this on Twitter, but I might as well post it here too:
Really not a fan TBH. Everything feels so much more "expanded," (Things are just spaced apart waaaaaaay too much) whereas the old layout was really condensed and everything was easy to find and whatnot. Still think the old category tabs were a lot better too.
Emulator is technically allowed currently, but we don't show emulator times by default on the leaderboards. Honestly, it would probably just be best to outright ban it, but the last time we voted (Which was like sometime in 2014 I think), quite a few people said no. A lot of those people don't even run the game anymore, and haven't for a long time, so it might be worth it to vote again.
The thing with emulator is, the game saves/loads from the memory card multiple times throughout a run, and emulator has instant save/load times. The times can vary too, so we can't just have emulator runners add a certain amount to their final time.
Regarding recording though, can you not just buy a cheap capture card? Dazzle DVC-100s are fairly cheap AFAIK, and even the GV-USB2, which is one of the top composite capture cards, is only like $30 - $45. If that's not possible, using a webcam or whatever is fine as far as video proof goes.
EDIT: We did a vote as a community, and pretty much everyone was in favor of banning emulator. So, there you go I guess. :P
Hmm, it seems that the games use the Wario series theme by default (Which, in this case, doesn't have any kind of design). Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but would it be possible to add in a way to select which parent series the game uses for its theme?
