I really think that this should be allowed. Restarting using the Save State mod does exactly what clicking the New Game button, but without all the time wasted in the main menu and the loading time. Also, timing should not be a problem, there is a Timer mod that exists (and that I'm working on improving it and adding more features to it), and it also resets with the reset button. If you want, I could make a comparison video of both restarting methods and show the time differences.
