Ok cool, I'll keep working on it on 3DS for now. I was thinking of Custom Knight purely for fun runs, but yeah, the random items can be tricky. I'm working through it now, and not having the Chaos Sphere 5 bosses in is slower than I expected.

Hello! I'm new to the SpeedRun community, but have lurked for a while. I am a huge Shovel Knight fan, and considered running it since I purchased the game a year ago. I've never "speedrun" a game before, so this is a new endeavor for myself. Shovel Knight is the only game that can "hold" my attention long enough to learn the runs. I'm interested in learning Any% primarily (started watching BustahWuff & Maestro tutorials), and the new Custom Knight looks like a blast to run with the new items.

So my question - are all versions of Shovel Knight now at the same point? I know in the past, the PC version was the superior version to run it because of version differences, and fight changes (e.g. Specter Knight). I ask because I only have Shovel Knight on the 3DS, as it's the most convenient for me to practice on and play. I also prefer a controller on this game vs KB/M, so 3DS works well.
