The reason is not to make leaderboards (I see no point of redoing a perfectly executed segmented run without a single new trick), but to rather include all runs. Also, segmented runs usually provide info about what is possible to achieve in the game, unless it's obsolete.
Oh, I was afraid of something like that :( What about Charisma? Some dialogs have both charisma and speech checks.
The difference is not that big, only about 3% per skill. Why would it make MB harder?
Has anyone tested if Luck has any effect on random encounters or lockpick/steal rolls?
Also, I think it might be better to pick Skilled and Gifted traits instead of Good Natured, especially if Luck has any effect. You could have S4,P2,E10,C2,I9,A10,L10 and you also get 33% outdoorsman. Unless you really need that many skillpoints, but from what I've seen nobody spends all of them, or unless you need a specific skill level at the beginning.
"I am pretty sure that most of people check some things in runs and not watch the entirety of it. That's what makes verification process faster and better comparing to SDA."
Yes, the verification process is much faster here than on SDA, but this case proves it's not enough to watch just some parts of a run. I actually struggle to believe that even some parts of ImFuryPro's run were watched as I only watched like 10 minutes of his run and spotted the problem. And I've never speedran D3 before. This is actually a pretty big issue on speedrun.com - majority of mods don't verify. They just check if the video is ok and maybe if the time is correct, and then click "Verify". I've seen it too many times :(
"There is just no dedicated mod for Doom 3, but there are global doom mods."
That is unfortunately a problem, but it doesn't mean that global mods shouldn't care. How about Corpseflesh? He's active and currently runs Lost Missions DLC.
"For big communities I don't think that is a problem at all - there is always someone on stream for WR holders and such, who can afterwards prove that run is legit."
Of course, would that be a twitch vod, you can pretty much press "Verify" without watching the whole thing, although like you said, it can be faked, but this was a youtube video, thus it has to be verified more closely.
My point is, I hope the mods here will be more careful when verifying a run. 1,5 hour is not that long. It's like a movie :)
By the way, I still think there should be a segmented category for D3. There are already 2 segmented runs that are pretty awesome, and another new one is coming soon.
Hmm, seems like the retail version doesn't have the anti-theft doors. That's why I didn't recall it. Not sure if we should change the rules because of that.
As for the missing glass, so far there doesn't seem to be any big advantage (if any at all), so I don't think there's a need to change anything. Do you agree?
-
So you have to change the rendering mode from OpenGL to D3D?
-
Can someone confirm this?
No idea what's "anti-thief" doors.
Sorry, but if you can't watch one and a half hour long run, you shouldn't even start verifying it. You may as well not require verification at all.
Yeah, I know. It's an extremely small advantage, but still worth a try.
So apparently the polish version doesn't have glass, even with maxed out graphics.
I was always wondering if it's possible to use Esc for inventory with high resolution patch, and I see it works. Why did nobody use it before? It's a very well known feature.
Also, I'm not sure you're aware that barrowsmane waited a bit in front of the V13 door to slightly manipulate rats positions. I know he didn't break the rules here, but I think the timer should start right after the cutscene, not with the first input.
How many times did you test each variable? Since the results are pretty weird, it should be tested properly before reaching to premature conclussions.
EDIT: Wait, did you say you tested walking? Running might give a different results. Also, what about diagonal movement?
Lol :D Even though most speedrunners have pretty much no life, it doesn't mean you have to be the same. You can still work on IL runs or even RTA and have a normal life with wife and kids... :)
As for the crashing, CPU core affinity. It's very strange that U1 has no issues, U2 crashes, MW has no issues and Carbon has cutscene and startup issues, despite all of these games using the same engine, just slightly improved each time.
