Any chance we can have this reinstated as allowed to start from Save state of title screen? We've basically confirmed theirs no RNG in the game and everything is manipulable/based on movement and execution. The SNES board allows it and I think we should allow it too. Opinions?
Alright 7 months. Time to make a ruling or a vote I would think, this pot has been left on the burner long enough. Either we start adding ms on new time and start filling new runs with ms or we remove them from the one existing on the board in my opinion. A single ms time looks poopy. A shared place will look better.
With us adding .5s to emulator runs, I think it would be reasonable for new submissions to have ms listed in the time, it will also prevent any ties int he future.
Hi! I submitted a run for Dahna: Megami Tanjo ( https://www.speedrun.com/dahna_megami_tanjo ) but realized there's no Mod on the board, meaning my run won't get verified/approved. I'd like to request Moderation status of the game.
I think it's something to look at again as more runs are submitted to no exploits maybe? (wow my time looks.....really bad in there....)
Bat/sprite count was larger in your hardware test than emu test.
Alright so, the only emulators we should consider using is Retroarch using the Genesis Plus GX core or Blastem core, or Bizhawk with the Genesis Plus GX core. those 2 cores are accurate in game speed. The only issue that you seem to run into consistently with every emulator is that scenes load/transition faster. ALL emulators that I have tested have loaded 1 maybe 2 frames faster (1 frame = 1/60th a second or 0.0166666667 seconds) than hardware (I've compared both original carts and Everdrive with no differences in load or game play) added time would technically be reliant to how many screen transitions the player has in their run. Essentially for each death a player has in a run they would need to add that 1-2 frames of time for each one to account for death scene transitions (exception being pit deaths as it never changes the scene). The time difference is 0.04s per scene change/transition (rounding up to 0.02 seconds a frame and assuming 2 frames every load instead of 1-2) from what I've found. There's 12? if I'm not mistaken scene changes/transitions in a normal deathless run totalling 0.48 seconds (actually less but we're rounding up and using worst case). so all in all less than half a second in any WR or even top 10 run. Rounding up to .5s and adding .5s to all Emu runs would make them more accurate to hardware and even give hardware advantage over emulation.
On another note, all DCG (Disney Classic Games) will have to be separated to its own board regardless of a split or not as you can't change it's emulation or cores so the game as a whole will run faster (game play and load times).
I'm on board for milliseconds., top 5.
"The users moderating a game should represent the consensus by the players of the game for who should be moderating." I don't recall a discussion or vote taking place.
" Moderators should typically speedrun the game, or at a minimum be heavily involved with the community." Akiteru doesn't even have a run on the Genesis board.
Categories have been separated and runs moved to appropriate categories.
Hello, Currently the moderator of https://www.speedrun.com/lionkingsms (https://www.speedrun.com/user/Mephistus/info) has been inactive for at least 5 months. The board has had verification's removed, and there are no rule sets or difficulty separation for the game. There has been mentions in the community that they would like to address these issues. As the current WR holder I would like to become a moderator to address these issues.
Everyone seems to run that section their own way and have found a pattern that works for them. You can watch my video to see how I do mine, it works for me and is reliable.
