I know this has come up a few times, but I want to bring up the topic of a 4Package% (or Any%) category. Reason being, we did one last weekend :)
I'm currently working on compiling together all the VODs and computing the actual final time (there's some missing footage due to a computer crash, but should be possible to cross-reference from other players online at the time). In the meantime, how do we feel about making a category to submit the run under?
On that same note, 12 people total participated total (no more than 7 concurrent, if I recall correctly). Is 9+ players an option for multiplayer categories?
Like toraoji and DCD said, it's hard to justify adding a new category when we have so few players, because it runs the risk of discouraging competition if everyone has their own category.
THAT BEING SAID! I understand that 30 minutes is a lot of time for a single run, and would still love to see what you can come up with! We recently added a personal bests channel to the discord, which is a great place to post runs that you're proud of, even if they don't have a category on this site. For example, I just put my best time for a no-dismantle Package% run up there and I'm starting to do other novelty runs, which I would like to share. Even if we don't make a category here, I'd love for you to post your bests there! If it starts to draw other people into doing HUB% that would also serve as a great justification for making a new category.
@Almine (https://www.speedrun.com/user/Almine) found a very interesting bug during the intro, that allows for accessing the build menu and inventory before the run begins:
It looks like there are a few ways to exploit this, most importantly you can exit the drop pod before being able to move freely.
According to our rules, "The timer starts when the player is allowed to move freely or when the "skip intro" button is pressed". Since you can't move freely yet, I don't think this would require we start the timer, but it does allow for doing some actions "pre-run". What do we think about this?
@janli @W_DeBeJoR would either of you be willing to put this link on the game page? We've got a pretty decent amount of runners in the discord now and it would be a great way to encourage the rest of the community to get involved there :)
Wow, I didn't read the rules either. Great catch StickRun!
Last week, I developed a mod for Satisfactory, called AutoSplitHelper, that facilitates making an auto splitter for the game (yay). However, technically our rules say that no mods are allowed. Can we amend the rules to allow this mod explicitly? (while I trust people not to use game-changing mods, we should probably still keep that provision in, of course)
The AutoSplitHelper script + mod, for anyone curious :) https://github.com/Epiphane/AutoSplitHelper#readme
I've made a new server, accessible here: https://discord.gg/Uj5y76NqCt
Still learning how server setup works, so I'm sure some things are still going to need fixing. If it turns out there is another server, I'll happily take this one down, but otherwise I look forward to seeing y'all there!
Is there an official Satisfactory speedrunning Discord server? I'd love to have a place to share ideas, clips, and chat in a more casual environment.
If there isn't one already, I'd be more than happy to make it, just didn't want to duplicate someone else's effort 😅
This is probably a dumb question, but I'm trying out speedrunning for the first time and I can't figure out how people sync up their splitting software to the game.
Right now I'm using LiveSplit, and tried setting up a mouse button shortcut to start/split the timer, but it feels wrong because it depends on me hitting the button at the right time. Is there a better way?
