A note, sometimes if you are unlucky the slugpup can wander before you get to it, or it can be eaten by the pink lizard that often comes by that area. Its rare, but possible even when successfully manipulating the spawn.

1. There are a lot of resources for movement tech. Wiki , Doc , Video . There's a pretty big range honestly and some categories care about different things. I think the most bread & butter is Fast Pole Climb, Fast Rolls (if not using keyboard), and Extended Slides. Work up to the more difficult and niche stuff.

2. There are advantages to either, and people have solid runs with both. Personally, I find Keyboard easier as Fast Pole Climbs are very difficult with the controller, and Fast Roll can be done with a button as there is a mod that is permitted.
