@StevenMayte It might be a fresh account, but it doesn't mean that I'm new to RE. Quite the opposite.
Almost everything I've said has been verified by Gemini beforehand elsewhere, so even Gemini will tell you that viewing the status screen does indeed impact the IGT. And why wouldn't I believe him? He's able to test it an examine the code.
And did you miss the part where Gemini said "Still, the consistent framerate makes virtually no difference, as the IGT, which is what is used to determine the final result of the speedrun, still behaves identically" ?
I don't get the obsession for a 1:1 IGT when the original unpatched game doesn't have an accurate IGT anyway. Or are people forgetting that the unpatched game lags when you view the status screen and that impacts the IGT?
Besides, having a 1:1 IGT is pointless since you shouldn't allow people with a patched game to compete against people using an unpatched game. That's why we've been asking for a separate category.
As things are the game is nearly unplayable on modern hardware and it'll only get worse as Windows receives big updates. So why not fix the problem by allowing Gemini's patch? It makes the game easy to play and it provides a consistent framerate, so it puts everyone on a level playing field. At the very least there should be a separate category for the patch.
The request for an "un-altered frame rate" doesn't make sense to me since it isn't consistent to begin with and can change depending on your hardware, resolution, drivers and even your PC's background processes. And who wants to set their 1440p 144Hz+ monitor to run at 800x600? Nobody in their right mind should be doing that.
