Run retimed to 23:26, 8 seconds added due to restarting from game over screen and skipping intro cutscene.

Alright, sorry about those issues. Make sure not to cover anything important on the game screen. You can also make LiveSplit transparent, or make the game smaller in OBS so the splits don't cover it. Also, don't forget to add a real time clock in addition to the load removed time, and show the completed file at the end. Good luck!

Seems like you figured out how to record with the splits! Unfortunately, I was unable to verify the run you submitted, but I gave the reasons why, so you will be able to make sure it's verifiable next time.

If you're running on PC, it's best to use the LiveSplit autosplitter/load remover, since load removed times are used as the primary ranking on the leaderboard. The RTA time should also be displayed alongside the load removed time if possible. If you're having issues setting it up and capturing it over the game with OBS, I can try to help you with that. If you're running on console, RTA timing is the only method. If you can't figure out a way to capture the timer, I should be able to just frame count the video later to verify the time, so that shouldn't be a major issue. You should at least run the timer on the side so you can submit it with the run. Make sure to show the new file creation at the start, and the completed file at the end. Note that console and PC use different start and end points for the run. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Yes, this is fine. Just make sure the video is single segment and do your best to capture all gameplay and sound.

Sounds good! I would say to pause the timer between each playthrough. So hit pause when the victory fanfare starts after defeating K. Rool, and resume it when you re-select the file for the next playthrough. You can take a break while the timer is paused, but don't cut the video recording and don't make the break excessively long.

The video is missing footage from 11:57 to 12:34 due to disconnecting from Twitch, but the run was streamed live and the runner is trustworthy so the run is verified.

I wanted to run the equivalent of 101% "all bonuses and extra content" without having to play through the game 3 times. Since there were no runs of the type I had to decide how to define the category. The main questions were if Candy's Challenges and stickerbooks needed to be done. Candy's Challenge only has to be completed once per file but doesn't actually contribute any %. There are 18 stickerbooks which are worth 1% each and only 6 of them are available on the first loop of the game. In the end I decided to do the Candy's Challenges and get the 6 stickerbooks in the spirit of completion.

After finishing all this the file will show 87%. I believe the remaining 14% divides into 1% per stickerbook for the remaining 12, and 1% for completing the game each time in the other two modes (DK barrels off, star barrels off). Since I had a run to post I created the category and titled it 87%. I'm opening this thread just in case anyone wants to discuss the name of the category or the requirements of the run. The name is concise but somewhat ambiguous, since Candy's Challenges aren't required for % and since you could make up missing % points in the other modes. I specified these restrictions in the category rules to help make it unambiguous.

If anyone ever wants to do a true 101% run with 3 playthroughs, I'd be happy to make a category as soon as there's a run to submit.

This is a great idea! I had considered creating an individual world leaderboard whenever there were runs to submit to it. If you'd like to submit some, I can put it together. However I wasn't entirely sure what the rules should be. Here are my thoughts:

For IWs, timing starts upon pressing A on the first level and ends at the start of the victory fanfare after defeating the boss (this is where the game saves). Pressing A on the first level instead of on the world map makes it easier to reset without loading states, you don't need to take Funky's Flights every time. You must play the levels in order. You can start as either Kong, have a DK barrel or not, and play with Stars/DKs off if desired. Playing with DKs off could make some interesting dboost strats since you automatically get your buddy back at the start of the next level. If you're doing an IW on a fresh file (like part of a full-game run), you get sent the wrong way on the world map in worlds 2, 3 and 4. To compensate for this you can subtract off 2.33 seconds from world 2 and 1.77 seconds from worlds 3 and 4 (these times were obtained from TAS testing). That makes it possible to grind IWs individually, or submit them from full-game runs without losing this time.

Note that you can hold directions to move around the map optimally and hold A to enter levels optimally.

My hesitancy to making IL boards would be if anyone actually wanted to run them, but if you want to submit some then I could make it. I could see doing some myself eventually. I would say mostly the same rules: start with any Kong, any file, timing starts on pressing A and ends the moment you touch the exit (since this is also where the game saves). For bosses, timing ends at the start of the victory fanfare.

I guess times would just be to the second for now. Decimals would be nice but are hard to get accurately.

I could start the board with these rules for now and if there are new suggestions in the future we can revisit them.

@jacksreality Congrats on your run! DKC on the GBA and GBC are separate games, you will have to go to the DKC GBA board and ask the moderators there about adding a category for it, https://www.speedrun.com/dkc1gba.

I've got a run to submit! Would love it if this category was added!
