It appears the In Game time is possibly tied to the frame rate in places and we cannot reliably get accurate results using in game time, so we are gonna roll with RTA timing for now. If things change we can reevaluate.
As of right now we are going to be using the In-Game time for runs, but we are not sure how accurate the in game timer is. We have some runners with runs that are 19 minutes RTA and 15 minutes in game time.
Just be aware we might have to swap to RTA timing. If that is the case I can re-time any existing runs.
Mono and Puzzle Knight will definitely both be added to the character list once they are out. Please feel free to remind me if I forget.
Added them to the options, they should pop up for each category now.
You can submit runs for any character on each board. You can also have multiple runs on each board. The board will show your best run per character. With there being 12 characters it isn't really feasible to have individual boards.
We could possibly setup ILs for each character if what was something people wanted to see. Right now with only a few active runners that would be a lot of empty space though.
Love this run, great to see fast Propeller Knight!
Yeah the rules are great for the world 1 competition
Yeah Klagarn, I was think about that as well. If people wanna run full game with everything unlocked we could easily do a separate category for that as well. Any% Fresh File vs Any% Completed File. Similar to a NG+ category.
Thanks for the response, I think that clears everything up
Wait, so the rules make it sound like it isn't from a fresh file.
"We highly recommend casually playing through World 1 first to save time on the stage unlock animations for your attempt."
A fresh file run would require routing/collecting the 30 Gems to unlock the Boss level. That would be a lot different than a run from a existing file with all the levels unlocked like the rules seem to imply.
Yeah routing around not getting fruit just an extra layer.
I had the same question. I assume it is intended to be played on the regular stages since the rule say the run starts on "Play Stage", but it probably needs to be specified.
It is allowed to turn off hit pause? The rules do not mention the "Hit Pause" option, & the run will be faster with Hit Pause off since you can run through enemies and spikes.
Categories to start are "Normal Ending" and "Secret Ending", each with a sub-category for "Single Stock" and "Infinite Stock". You can have multiple runs in each category (1 run for each character).
More categories will be added if people are running different things or we feel like we need to expand the board a bit more.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts!
Looks good to me. The only other thing I can think of is an any% category that gets all the checkpoints, basically the route you'd take on a first play, but without getting the secrets or the alternate ending.
