As far as I'm aware. No. You can't control where in the Northern forest you spawn. If you check my Twitch vods, you can see me reset A LOT at the beginning cause sometimes I just get the bad spawn. Thankfully, it is the absolute beginning of the run. So you aren't throwing out potentially good runs.

I have seen potential areas in the desert for runs. The main issue with the desert though is the lack of leaves and wood for bio fuel. And the drop pods we use to collect starter gear are very far. If it was a separate category for spawn locations, there is potential. But having too many categories and sub categories doesn't make sense for a game that isn't run by a lot of people. Since most of the categories will remain empty.

I am trying to route a speedrun for the game and was wondering if we use the experimental releases or not. I'd rather not run the game in experimental if the run becomes invalidated for that. This will be my first time speedrunning so I'm not sure if the rule of "Using the newest patch" includes experimentals or not.
