any changes you have for the board can run through me
@cheekychunk, Germany is clearly the meta for overall WR, but people should be able to run other leagues, so it's up to you whether we keep that field or not, I'm leaning towards removing it. Also we should mandate 50Hz for all PAL runs, and either asterisk or hide my original WR as being grandfathered in as badly emulated PAL60, and no longer relevant apart from historical context.
Also, we should add a National Champion board. I'm planning to do your route. Segmented and Live boards should also exist IMO, but that's low hanging fruit. I'm thinking the splits up on that one now. But yeah, that would be essentially getting to the credits and beating the game.
Also for PCSX2 Emulator, we should mandate turned off Fast CDVD which will make it so it emulates the CDVD better, though using Unload may be a better idea, I'm not sure how you're gonna verify my run so... heh
Also we should have people show their PCSX2 settings for the game before or after the runs to make sure they're not using unfair speedhacks like 3x EE Clock Speed. I do that on streams for my regular series, but I've just separated that internally by making a custom ISO for my Let's Plays.
Post WR thoughts:
- The average time loss per game is somewhere between three and four minutes, depending on how much menuing you have to do. My own par is about 3:30 per game, I’m noticing. Usually it’s dependent on how many goals are scored and how many free kicks are taken so four is the absolute worst case. (This is just for a regular game with zero menuing. Some games won’t be this easy.)
- Changing squads around for an injury or suspension, could be a minute worth of lost time and actually making sure the injury gets healed is another minute, this is lost menuing time which comes up in the splits, but what doesn’t appear in the splits is the actual matchday in which we finish the run, that would be more to must finish by X matchday.
- That's the timesave you don’t actually get to see in the splits. As the splits is all about menuing and efficiency. (The final time is very dependent on how many games ahead of the league we finish promotion wise.
Mid-WR attempt thoughts:
- PCSX2 has a Fast CDVD Boot option, I believe turning this off increases the accuracy of DVD load times. I usually have it on for non-speedrun purposes. This should be listed as a rule for Emulator.
- Some animations in the game are unstoppable, and others are skippable with inputs well before you thing. Others still are complete skippable frame-perfect inputs.
- RNG is a sizeable component as regards cutscenes and forced lineup changes (like red cards and the like)
- If the rival gets too good, and you skim the financial red too much, time is lost to cutscenes. Some only happen once. Slumps can do the same thing.
- The google doc players are great to play all at once.
- My splits are now using the time when you first gain access to main menu on the particular week/month due to all the cutscenes between months, or at final whistle in the playoff games, as they are special cases. It’s mostly menuing and RNG anyway.
Understood, yeah. Glad to be back, tbh.
There's no way the proof of run can be returned, I lost the video and the account in late 2021.
I am Nexxus Drako Gaming, and if you don't know me... I AM LMAST!
Anyway, I just tried (and failed) to set a time. A cockroach got in the way of me being able to get past the hour and a half mark, but I have a good strategy and I'm hopeful I can get a time back on the boards at some point.
Speaking of, can I have my admin back please cheekychunk? I won't remove yours, but thanks so much for the help with keeping the board running.
