The idea behind this is to establish a set of names for parts of a level so that we know what we are talking about when refer to different sections of a stage. This thread is really here to just open up a discussion about the subject and to make it easier for new players to see what it is we are talking about when we says things like "the alcove". I'm going to start with Deadly Fall because it is probably the most played level.

I'd also like to establish the concept of sectors within a stage (rustys idea), each stage should consist of three sectors and we should discuss as a community where it is we'd like to place the boundaries for each stage.

When you video the runs can you turn the lights off in the room? It stops the reflection on the screen and its a lot easier to see the run. The golden forest video is really clear. Thanks again man.

Unfortunately I dont have a video, bu basically you have to stay to the left after the second big snow bump, go up a little slope and jump between the two rocks. But im guessing based on what you said its actually a little slower

Hey Unlash do you think you can test the alternate ending on DC to see if it faster? where you go to the left of the house then up a little bump between the rocks before the finish line

Just so you are aware I did some Crystal Lake science and managed to confirm that match race is at least half a frame faster, are you able to so a save states run in match race?

I think the MV can be a bit faster, I dont think the tunnel part was perfect particularly the jump before the entrance and the jump in the middle. Also I think a fence jump is a little faster and a jump cancel at the house part.

I think the S bends on crystal peak could be a bit tighter and also the tunnel section just after the S bends but otherwise excellent work, these are really informative.

the 1'02"33 is a beautiful run, do you think you can do a 30?

Unfortunately all runs will require video proof. If you have a ghost saved you can show your times screen then a replay of the ghost. This is pretty easy to do with any modern phone.

[big]1080 December 2018 edition[/big]

With temperatures dropping outside we are all in the mood to do a bit of snowboarding so why not stay inside and play some 1080?

During the month of December the community has decided to come together to try beat personal bests and world records in the 1080 seasonal event of the year. A lot of the top players including myself, LomasLooman, Phalaer, Mattador, flowwbo and young Unlash will all be active during the month and most of us will be streaming on twitch. So you can expect that on just about every day of the month at least one of us will be actively playing the game. In addition if you are a new player or even someone who is just thinking about picking up the game now is a great time to do so as we will all be active in the discord chat group.

[big]Personal goals and challenges[/big]

My personal goals will be to try and improve upon all of my current times, hopefully develop some faster strategies and to do some match race runs. I also want to try and create some 1080 snowboarding tutorial videos to help new players better understand top level strategies in speedrunning the game.

This post will also be updated with a leaderboard with all of the top times set on each course during the month. And just for fun we want to add some other interesting challenges like trying to set the fastest time using the "old route" on deadly fall and getting the fastest possible times on levels using different characters and boards. I will also create a leaderboard for these challenges as times are submitted.
