It's hard to say since it's been so long but I think that's slower. If you were to do it your way, you'd have to train after the arena since in the run we train during the money quest. You definitely don't want levels before that. And it doesn't really matter when you hand in the shield, you go to ironfist for the money quest anyway so no backtracking.
Good luck.
I see, I must have only tried skipping Njam's house before you could.
Anyway sorry, I was totally wrong. My memory was really fuzzy on the thousand terrors skip but I remember now. It is indeed the same as chasm of the dead and yes, no need to go to the bathhouse.
I feel like with some practice it's much faster and safer on average than the beacon trick, but it's hard to say. For some reason, skipping thousand terrors with it feels consistent enough but I was struggling to get it in chasm of the dead, so much so that I'm not confident in trying it in a run.
Right, you don't need to aggro Njam to enter but then pulling the lever at the end won't trigger the ending cutscenes. I think.
The trick involving the bathhouse isn't like the chasm of the dead skip. Watch alpaca's video more carefully.
I thought you have to go to Njam's house to make him "follow" you into the dungeon, otherwise the lever doesn't work, right?
I had found that same setup for the last dungeon as well. However, going to the bathhouse lets you use leggib so no need for awkward position setup like in your video. Also, if your position is off and you can't make or fail the jump you lose a lot of time trying again. The warp with quicksave/quickload during load is consistent. You can just make a normal save before trying to enter, if you want.
I've seen something similar once or twice before, same dungeon too. No clue what it is though. I want to say it's buggy mesh causing crazy fall damage but there should be no fall damage indoors (I think?). I just realized it's kinda like walking under the flame door in VARN with 5th slot height, kills you instantly but not sure why.

"Skipping" the vampire quest should definitely be allowed. You're not actively performing a glitch or anything like that, the developers just messed up placing the quest trigger early. Maybe the category should be renamed to "any% developer intended route". Same goes for the cube, the game mechanics are working as intended. It's a shame that some text makes it ambiguous.
To clarify, in glitchless you can use wells and other such things as much as you want as long as it doesn't involve the glitch mentioned before.
Tere tulemast!

Stealing the control cube Personally I don't consider this a glitch but fox made strong arguments for banning stealing it. I believe both the quest log entry and award refer to you "assassinating" them. I will ask for his opinion again.

Using wells/etc This was poorly worded in the rules. The rule refers to using a well infinitely as seen here. Using wells repeatedly through normal means is allowed.
-
Followers in shoals/lincoln Normally, when you enter the shoals, followers disappear until you leave. However, there is a glitch which makes them usable. That is not allowed. By "jar" I assume you mean the temple in a bottle, which is allowed.

Vampire quest I see your point. Not sure why this is in the rules. I'll ask fox about it.
About categories I recall someone asking to seperate light/dark and glitchless variations. For some reason fox didn't want to seperate them which is why they're not there anymore. I will discuss this with him. As for the 7 hour run, it was submitted before the glitchless category was created. It most likely belongs in glitchless. I'll try to sort that out.
Hope that covers it. If I left something out or you're confused please ask. I will discuss the things with others and report back later.
Just so you know, I spent like 2 hours looking for a better earth prison save and couldn't find one.
New categories added. I'll add the light/dark path subcategories later if needed. Right now there's only one dark path run (the 7 hour one!).

Here you go! Ask away if you have any questions.
It's a lot of text but at least is comprehensive (except for dungeons, but they're easy enough to memorize). Note that there may be some errors, for example I see bounty mentioned a few times. I recommend you save scum an easy bounty the first time you enter new sorpigal town hall, then when you come back to hand in other quests it'll still be the same month.
Most of this stuff is rather well known already but I had never heard about 6 and 8. Cool stuff, thanks for sharing!
In a speedrun, the goal is to complete the game as fast as possible by any means with no outside help.
Where do you even draw the line? Are you suggesting disallowing enchanted bows but allowing 5th slot? Both seem like "obvious bugs" to me. If you're going to impose arbitrary limitations on the run you might as well make it glitchless and a seperate category. (I'd love to see you do that Ichi)
Bad ending with blasters would be the exact same route as good ending (except skipping ritual of the void which loses maybe 30 seconds) so there's really no point.
Stellar work! I'm mostly interested in 6 so I did some testing on that. The exit buffer works fine, confirmed. Scroll bug has some neat effects, definitely looking into that. Couldn't make item buffer/render bug work, this need more testing though. As for the spell bug I actually had discovered it independently! This jump trick (below) is used in the all awards run.
As I said, all this needs more testing, thanks a lot for sharing!
