I don't really know if I should post this here, but it couldn't hurt.
To cut this short; I've wanted to start trying to speed-run games for a while, so I wanted to start with SCP - Containment Breach, a game I've been following for a long time. I looked through all the sections, and the rules seemed simple enough, but there's one thing that bothered me in the guides section, and it's the restriction of the game version, and seed. I really want to know if I am forced to obey this;
"Until a new seed is discovered, you should run the game on version 0.9.3 using the seed e69cs8k and following these steps.",
and if I was forced to obey the guide.
I really want to speed-run the game on v1.2.3, and with the seed "SP33DRUN", without the quotes.
From doing my first run with the game (and doing a small check-around on god-mode), it seems like a perfectly good seed to run.
Now, of course I will go to 0.9.3 if I /HAVE/ to, but it just seems more convenient to run the version of the game I have (so I won't have to download another version just for speed-running), and to run with this perfectly fine seed too.
If need-be, I can write a guide and upload my splits with my layout to this section so anyone else could use my method. Though, I would need to update it consistently since with every new update, seeds for the game change (even if they remain constant).
So....am I?
