Im back from the dead. After i got a good glitchless run, i was to lazy to learn the new aany% route. But now i have a little bit more time and more motivation to get back to any%. Sigma showed me, that it is possible to get a sub 8 min run, and i will aim for that. That said, it will take quite some time before i can do runs again, because i have to derust. :D
Well Sigma and I agreed, that Rolljumping is no glitch, because it is in the game without really setting it up, i like to compare it to the jump-range: you jump further, when you jump to the left or right, its just in the game engine.
Regarding the void boost its a little bit different, because the void boost changes your general movement and speed and you have to set it up before you can use it.
Either way we just have to come up with the rules and then its fine.
Yes he is boosting when resetting, he also wrote it on here: "If you boost right before voiding out, or resetting, you keep the boost flag, I think, and you run at boost speeds all the time.
The biggest thing to note is that you return to normal if you boost again losing the speed, and sometimes it has dropped without boosting, but generally you keep it. "
Boosting again loses the effect and you have to set it up again. Just try it out yourself that will answer most of your questions.
Just updating this thread :D
Nowadays we try to rolljump everywhere we can, because its the fastest technique to move. But before the rolljump, an additional jump is required so we lose about one second to set up a rolljump. So when we only use one rolljump its not very effective, it might even lose time. But when there is the opportunity to do more than one rolljump, Rolljumps are the best technique to move.
Thats why we route this game so, that we do as many rolljumps consecutively as we can.
Rolljump spots are everywhere. I will soon release a Video, where it shows every level as fast as i can do it, and of course there are roll jumps. This will be without the void boost glitch.
Regarding the rolljumps with the void boost glitch, i will have to research that more, because i dont know really much about that for now. So this will take some time.
I mean, rolljumping is not really a glitch. It is in the game, without exploiting something, we just press roll and immediately after we press jump. But Void boosting is a glitch: Definition by SpeedRunsLive.com: "Glitch:Unintentional mistake in the game's code, often exploited." Tweet from 404Sight: "Engineering suspects the speed cap isn't getting reset on accidental death/reset- even though it ¤should¤. Whoooops." So it is a unintentional mistake.
Video will follow.
Are you sure, rolljumping was not intended? Rules any% glitchless: "Timer starts as soon as you load game, ends as soon as you finish last level. Void boosting not allowed. "
Hey there, my advice to you is to train roll jumps to get a feeling for it. With training it is pretty easy atfer a while. I myself spam roll, before i land and then jump again too, just like you, but its all about timing. Roll jumps are also dependent from the angle of the ground and the angle of the camera. On some spots you just cant roll jump.
For now, i am not speerunning either, but i will get back to it soon. Meanwhile i enjoy watching speedruns on this site, so i am not really inactive.
Edit: Was active since christmas, will also be active until we have a good run with the void boost glitch.
Was surprised myself, after i got an 9:48, but i was not satisfied by that run, so a 9:39 happend. :D
Probably Lag, I never experienced that kind of lag in Level 13, but often in Level 4, dont know for sure, why it is happening.
Got a 10:35, with one little mistake in Level 5. Sub 10:30 is possible.
Here is a video with the first 3 levels using roll jumps.
Edit: These strats are Outdated
Nice ending with the roll jump. And congratz :D I have no problem with verifying your own run. ^^
Nice to hear, that the staff is following our speedrun attempts.
At the moment im going through all Levels again and try to push down the time by using Jump-Rolls. I will also look for extra skips, but i think it will take a while... :D
11:37 Guys! :D Screwed up a little bit in Level 7, but in general a good run. :)
Hi Guys, I also run this game, but right now I´m optimizing my route. Earlier today i uploaded a video which has the Level 6 Skip, which SigmaTapion mentioned a few minutes ago. There is also a little Level 9 Skip, in case it was not known. :)
Here is the video:
