message from bean regarding this in the discord: So here are the problems I see with adding a glitchless category:
-
Another normal main game category naturally splits the community. Not only will there be a divide in discussion and attention, but also a complication for new runners trying to join. While there has been a nice uptick since the holidays, we are historically a small community, so splitting is even worse.

It doesn't change enough to be particularly interesting. When there are as little categories as there are, the more drastically different types of running make more sense to have categories for, as it provides interesting variety. Glitchless would be very similar to normal, since it would just be no Gunshow. No Gunshow would just be picking up more guns, so slightly slower. Runs would mostly look very similar, and wouldn't even be drastically longer. Glitchless in general is for games with many more glitches than shvr.

Verification would be a pain. To be transparent, with me being the only person really modding the board, for any% runs I can just poke through to make sure nothing seems weird, time it myself, and verify. For glitchless, basically the entire video of every single run would need to be looked at carefully, since Gunshow loopholes are a quick thing to sneak in. While laziness may seem to be a lame reason, when it's contentious for other reasons it becomes relevant.

I'm not convinced there's that much interest. While it comes up a lot as an idea, I haven't seen people go for it just for the hell of it. In particular, Any% itself isn't even that active, in the sense that the vast majority of things I verify are ILs. When the main category is already not ridiculously active, I am not convinced a weird and similar side category would be.
Hopefully that answers some questions, I thought it would be good to lay out my many thoughts. Very open to other ideas of course, these are just my moderation opinions
