In terms of difficulty Vrains is a whole different beast to tame, especially with Story Decks. I assume it is not going to be that bad with a custom deck once you have experience with the campaign. My original idea for a new save file run back then, was to just lose to the the first duel after the tutorial in Vrains a bunch of times by just instantly surrendering the duel to obtain the cards for the Gouki deck, but I never tested it, so I don't know how good that idea actually is. I also want to mention, that because this is not an official category, you are allowed to make up your own rules. So for example, if you say the run is too long and too exhausting in one sitting, you can allow breaks. Just pause and save the timer, and then continue the run on the next day or so. I would suggest to do that after you finish a campaign though and not in the middle of one. You can also make a decision about whether campaigns need to be played in order and if you are allowed to use banned cards or not. Another thing I would advice you to keep is the definition for Any% and 100%. In Any% only the regular duel are required, while 100% also requires the Reverse Duels.
There was somebody, who had that idea a couple of years ago, but it has never been attempted in the end. The game has been very inactive for years, so there isn't really any demand to justify adding something new. Categories aren't just getting added based on new ideas in general. There have been other ideas for new categories in the past. If all those got added we would have an abundance of categories, which all would have been run by probably just the person suggesting it and nobody else. So unless there is a sudden resurge of players, that would all be interested in running the game that way and also doing so, don't expect there to be a leaderboard for it any time soon. But that shouldn't stop you from running the game that way, if you have interest in doing so. A game doesn't need an official leaderboard in order to be speedrun in some other way. I have done speedruns, that had no official leaderboard, myself like DM Battle Pack Draft.
Hello everyone,
I haven't done a propper introduction of myself, yet, after I have become a mod for the Legacy of the Duelist games recently. Anyway, I am AShinyBlackPhoenix, and I am primarily a runner of Link Evo Story Decks. If you have any question in regards to rules or would be interested in getting some help from me in regards of the runs, feel free to get in contact with me.
I also want to let you know, that I have added several new guides to this game, which are helpful for dealing with the AI. A list of bugged cards, which are relevant for Story Deck runs has also been added.
Would be cool to see people get interested into these runs again, but even if not, I hope these guides will be helpful in the future.
Regardless, have a nice day everyone.
Sorry to disappoint you, but in my opinion that doesn't sound like a good idea. People can just ask someone else to take a picture of their deck profile or even just take a photo on the internet of a deck profile. How do you want to proof they cheated that way?
But let's say we live in a perfect world where nobody would ever do that, it still wouldn't be a great idea. People can just buy their Any% Banlist deck profile and then legally play it in that category. In that case you just created a second leaderboard for technically the same category.
I get the thought behind your idea but it just wouldnt work because people can just buy the cards they need and then it just ends up being Any% Banlist, but people had to spend more money to participate.
I would do GX Story Decks, Vrains Story Decks or Battle Pack 1 Draft for the OG campaign. Can also do multiple categories.
I am very sorry for this way too late reply. This was asked before I was a mod for this game, so back then when it was posted i couldn't answer this question and later on, I honestly forgot that this was posted to begin with. Anyway I have asked multiple people about what we should do for IL runs and we all agreed that it should be done in Single World. One factor for that being it takes away outside factors from a complete run in general like: do you start with a shield or not, because you got hit on the previous boss or the amount of extra lifes you start with. It is also way more entry friendly that way, because if ILs were made in Arcade, everyone would have to do a full run until the world they want to submit for. I am going to make an exception for world 1, since it makes no difference if you start world 1 through Single World or Arcade. So if someone tries to go for an Arcade run but gets a really good world 1 they can still submit it to the ILs. Both difficulty selection and level selection needs to be shown at the start of the run or in case you submit a world 1 from an Arcade run, show that Arcade was selected and the difficulty. I am going to update the rules for this. Again, sorry for this way too late reply. I hope this will clarify it for you, current and (hopefully) future runners. In case anyone has still questions about this or is looking for advice, feel free to message me.
I know a thread for that already exists but that one is 2 years old so I decided to open a new one. Anyway I got an idea for 2 (or 3 depending on whether youll split one or not) new categories.
The first idea I have is an Any% all levels category. It's basically a Any% run, so no human collecting or anything is required. The only condition is you will have to go through all the secret levels the game has to offer. The only weird ruling that would cause is the Nex Machina fight, because that fight is technically considered a secret level but you clear it regardless of whether you win or lose. Not to mention that the level becomes inaccessible if you game over during your run. We can technically call that category all secret exits since the Nex fight is not listed as a secret exit on the end result screen of world 6, so that would be a way to work around that.
The other category (or 2) is/are inspired by a Resogun category: all humans. The reason why I suggest this category is very simple: there is a glitch that sometimes prevents a disruptor to spawn making a 100% run invalid. This way you still have close to all the movement from a 100% run minus the visitors and beacons (and also not the Nex fight), while not having to deal with that glitch that can make your run invalid and there is nothing you can do about it. The reason why I am saying this could be potentially 2 categories is that you can technically split this in an all humans only main levels and an all humans (including the secret levels) category.
I'm kind of interested of what you think about my ideas. If you like them and agree on that these should be categories I'm looking forward to run one of those categories in near future. I would also be pleased to help establishing the rules for the categories if any of them get implemented.
