California, USAThere's were not enough runs yet to fill up all the old categories. And I did feel the game was dead enough to take a risk in trying to make it a bit more popular. I had no idea on how to do this but once I saw AVNJ's request and after I took a look at his twitch channel, he seemed knowledgeable enough to my eyes to allow him to try to make changes. I remember your one run was all dungeons and I am sorry that category no longer exists.
In fact you along with my own all dungeons runs were the only ones effected in a unfair way. That and I suppose 2-3 player games which like AVNJ mentioned before, made the categories a utter mess. So yes I'm aware this choice of mine is unfair to some but I'm taking that risk to see if more people do indeed take interest in the game in seeing several runs submitted at a glance compared to like 1 or 2 at a glance.
I'm going to give this new format he has done a try for awhile and see if it bares fruit. If it does not then I'll change everything back to what it once was. If it does bare fruit then I'm sorry to say you and any others who took offense were pulled under the rug for the greater good. Likely if the game does become more popular where the current format increases in runs, I can ever so slowly add categories while still having the game not look dead at a glance.
There is no Journeyman speedruns for any category I'm afraid. I had to make a choice to prevent clutter and decided against adding that difficulty. The other reason being easy mode is the fastest for people who want a super fast speedrun. Then their is master for people who want a fast time at the games hardest. I found it didn't make sense for people to want to do the in between so I decided against adding it. I'm really sorry about that. I'll understand if that a bit enraging towards you. Regardless sticking to my choice tho.

I haven't even considered GDQ. Even so, another desire of mine outside of speed running, is getting the game of FTK more well known. Oddly enough I never did consider using speed running as another way of getting this game more well known. With that said perhaps I should reconsider adding easier difficulties. Tho to prevent scaring people away with loads of empty categories like I did a year ago before I fixed it, I'll probably wait until people state either through PM or forums that they have a run done and ready to submit, before I add anything.
I wasn't planning on adding different categories in the terms of difficulty. Now this is just my opinion of course, but I feel those who wish to speedrun FTK, should first master the game. Cause the only difference I see in an easier difficulty, is basically trying to get away with a lot more risks to save time. I personally would try to prevent any sort of risk taking to get a better time. To me, speedrunning a game should be all about limiting the risk down as much as possible while of course going fast. Otherwise your just trying to get lucky rather than build up the skill to speedrun consistently with whatever pattern people think is best.
As for the other game modes sure. I am more than happy to add the other modes for speedrunning.
Interesting thought. I mean if someone does record a certain length of their choosing and wants to make that video a speedrun. I could easily just add that category to the length of rooms they did. Same is true for any other category I may not have listed right now. Just send a video and claim it to be a speedrun for (xxx), and I can make it so. Until I beat it instantly after of course. ^^
