So, there's a lot that Undertale keeps track of, such as whether you took off the bandage, whether you died, whether you used healing items, for the conversation with Sans at the restaurant. There's also additional dialogue if you reset without saving and encounter someone again for the "first" time or for their date dialogue, including dialogue with Alphys that is very convoluted to get (I honestly don't remember what I did but it took a lot of planning around the funkiness with the game saving automatically at the end). I wonder if maybe something that focuses on checking those boxes could be integrated into a high % category of some kind?
Oh, I don't see that one on the leaderboards. Does it have a different name?
Yeah, it's definitely the best idea to leave it as a category extension, as it's just way too long and there's alot to keep track of. You need to be keenly aware of everything going on, practically with intense lazer focus, for over 30 hours (unless youre really good at the game). No save, remembering to unlock sans workshop and mettaton's house, getting every item, no hit credits, all of it is aggravatingly tedious to remember, so no one, not even the best runners, would ever recommend it, ever. If you want a better "Hundo" for UT, there's All Major Endings, which only hits the major changes in endings that describe different events, instead of variations of events. It's also a bit long, clocking at around 5 hours, but it definitely a lot more fun, and you don't have to be super aware except midgame.
Yeah, I was definitely not looking to pick up a 30 hour run lol. Idk, I have no experience speedrunning Undertale, but I like longer RPG runs and Undertale is my favorite RPG, so I was thinking of giving it a shot. All Major Endings sounds like a good run, but I don't think I can handle killing anyone. Maybe I'll just pick up TPE Glitchless.
That would be glitchless for you, FrifGer. Neutral Glitchless doesn't use the Punchcard. Same with any other Glitchless categories.
There is a Low% category, which restricts picking up non-essential items (Undyne’s letter in TPE) so if you are interested in a no punch card category, that category does exist while still having a couple of glitches in the game.
I'm often trying to do TPE glitchless, and it's a lot harder that I was expecting. I mean, 2 hours for true pacifist? I mean I know the world record it's like 1:45 but I was expecting something else
- if you wanted to use a forum to ask this, i wouldve suggested making a new forum to ask in
- what do you mean? if you could please clarify, do it in the Undertale Speedrun Discord linked in the Speedrun.com page here, specifically in the run-help channel, that way we aren't bothering everyone who has forum notifications on, and it'll be easier to figure out
To address Twitch's new 100-hour highlight limit, we are making a few changes to make sure that the highlight limit (as well as any future Twitch decisions) doesn't affect the leaderboard's integrity. Effective immediately, we are no longer accepting runs submitted through Twitch highlights, reg
