i decided to start speedrunning 2-4 but found out to get good times you need to do a out of bounds clip so i was just going to do a 2-4 glitchless but that catagory doesnt exist apparently.
Generally mods don't add categories people don't run, and I suppose most ULTRAKILL speedrunners just don't really like running glitchless, especially with how much of this game's tech borders glitches, I can't even imagine having to be the one in charge of deciding what is and isn't a glitch. Regardless, I don't believe they take text suggestions anyways, discuss in the discord w/ other runners, and if there's interest, they'll consider adding it. Inbounds is probably the closest to glitchless we currently have, although that doesn't exist for IL runs, presumably because not enough people wanted to run it.
Everything in this game is a glitch even if Hakita says it's intended. No point in choosing which part of the game you can play and which one you can't
The problem is determining what counts as a "glitch" and what a "glitchless run" would look like in ultrakill. Would you count slam storage as a glitch? How about dash extensions? What about ultraboosting? Dash slide jumping? Super slide jumps? and the list just goes on and on. There's quite a bit in ultrakill that was maybe at first unintentional that becomes just a part of the game, so right now inbounds is what is usually settled on for anyone looking for a "glitchless" run experience and sometimes that's really all someone is looking for when they mean "glitchless". Also yes at some point in the future we plan on adding weaponless and inbounds IL boards, as for when I do not know.
If you're interested in seeing inbound il runs then you can check out naomis unofficial board here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1A7geenP7Fnm1o0RXS9n0pFWsqVK7zyoNtHiSOXJBpeg/htmlview#
Just to add onto what Dryzalar was saying,
Many of the mechanics of the game were glitches to begin with that were just accepted by hakita & co Projectile boosts, dives, super slide jumps are all good examples of mechanics not originally intended
even many OOB's are know and accepted, pipeclip & updoor for example.
in ultrakill the lines between glitch, exploit, and intended mechanics become so blurred that trying to make any real distinction is kinda pointless. There are some things that for one reason or another have been outright banned (ex: shotgun stacking) but thats on a case by case basis depending on what is healthy for the game.
the closest you'll find to glitchless would be inbounds (see post above)
but you can still do 2-4 inbounds if you want to and submit it here, it'd be harder to compete for like top times but your allowed to
- The top 3 session recording requirement has been removed.
- Now top 10 runs require Steam Overlay's in-game FPS counter to be enabled and visible in the recording, preferably with high contrast.
- If you have problems with the overlay disappearing, try running Steam as administrator.
- If using OB
