Any% US/PAL Route (Peril Mario | Optimal)

It's recommended that you enable debug mode by pressing X, B, R, B, Y, L on the title screen

This route is probably about 1-2 minutes faster than the US/PAL Peril Yoshi route. However, it requires farming Charlieton for Mega Rush (loses about 40-50 seconds every time he doesn't have it). You must also Superguard Bowser's fire (there is a workaround but it's not great). You may also have to Superguard Shadow Queen's attacks if you get unlucky. There is also a chance Shadow Queen boosts defense in final phase, which would basically guarantee a slow fight. Proceed with caution, this route is probably not worth running unless you are pushing for a very good time.

Note: Leave the memory card out to skip the autosave at the start of the game. There are no autosaves after this so you can put it in any time after the curtain pulls.

Robbed by Bandit (don't chase him to get the coins back, you make it up later) Meet Frankly Decline the Action Command tutorial (menu up for the top option, then mash B for second option)

Perform Goomba Trio Skip (or Fright Mask [up 1], this will give 1 extra Star Point)

Get Pretty Lucky from the invisible block (directly south of the Puni hole) Get the Black Key and the Plane Curse (choose the second option)

Perform Blooper Skip

Grab Close Call Perform Bridge Skip (or check the bush to reveal a pipe and hit the switch in the background) You don't need to get the bridge Fire Flower at all Go to Petalburg

Get the POW Block from the block near the Spiky Goomba

You don't need to get the block Fire Flower at all Super Fun Quirk Quiz 65 (1, 3, 4, 2, 3 [if necessary: 1, 2]) Optional: Get Multibounce from the red block (37 extra coins, can help if you need to let Bandits steal coins but isn't necessary) Go right for the Sun Stone

Backtrack to the Red Bones room and get the Castle Key Go back to the room with the Save Block and ride the green block up to unlock the door In the upper hallway, hit the first “!” block Use Koops to hit the 2nd “!” block

Note: You can jump to the window without hitting the second block. It saves 8 seconds. However, if you mess up and fall below, you waste about 30 seconds. However, you can clip out of bounds in paper mode at the bottom-right corner of the room, which will place you back up to the upper hallway.

Grab the Life Shroom with Koops while riding the big green block up

Take the Plane Panel to the Thousand-Year Door

Stand on the pedestal and talk to Frankly

Go down the East Rogueport pipe TALK TO PUNIO to open the entrance to Boggly Woods

Get FP Plus from the chest near the blue pipe to Poshley Heights

Paper Mode momentum cancel off the pipe to drop down on the Star Piece

Perform Teleporter Room Early

Read the note on the Poshley Sanctum door (to advance the sequence so that the train e-mail is there)

Recommended: Save in front of the train in case you fail to get Jump Storage Use the e-mail on the Excess Express (between Cabins 004 and 005) to get Jump Storage

Sales Stall ➢ Buy 2 Boo’s Sheets (only buy 1 if you got the one from Charlieton) ➢ Get a Mushroom from shop points ➢ Store the Mushroom + 2 Boo’s Sheets + Life Shroom (mash A x4) ➢ Buy 6 Thunder Rages (only buy 5 if you got the Earth Quake from Charlieton)

Enter Poshley Sanctum and Super Jump to the switch to reveal the pipe Obtain the Garnet Star Recommended: Save after the Bowser intermission in case you fail Blimp Ticket Skip

Perform Blimp Ticket Skip Grab the Star Piece behind the pipe Go to Glitzville

Take the blimp to Rogueport and then back to Glitzville

Get the Star Piece next to the door leading to the lobby Move backwards against the Minor League door to be able to open it

Note: Failing an Earth Tremor is generally the fastest way to fulfill “Use at least 1 special move.” Showstopper may come in handy sometimes though.

Note 2: Jumping while waiting for the guard delays him from entering the room. Try to avoid doing any actions during this time aside from equipping badges/changing partners.

Note 3: If you ever need more FP to help you out of a bad situation, you can use the Honey Syrup if you got it in Boggly Woods.

The condition is on the 4th textbox after signing up for a match

You need to leave Glitzville with 47-53 Star Points (there really isn't a good workaround for being outside this range)

#10 Armored Harriers ➢ If you have 10 FP, Power Shell (skip this if Mario has 5-7 HP or 1-2 HP) ➢ If you have 8-9 FP, Spin Jump (skip this if Mario has 5-7 HP or 1-2 HP) ➢ If Mario has 3 or 8 HP, Jump to get to 2 or 7 ➢ Run away (you need 5-7 HP or 5-7 FP for Magnus 2.0, and 6+ of one stat)

Yoshi hatches and joins your party

Souvenir Shop ➢ Buy 3 Power Punches (buy 2 if you have less than 45 coins) ➢ Withdraw the Life Shroom and 2 Boo’s Sheets (mash A x3) ➢ If you have 1-4 HP or used an extra item, withdraw the Mushroom (mash A) ➢ If you have 1-4 HP, use the Mushroom to heal (wait until after getting Jump Storage in X-Naut Fortress if you used an extra item) ➢ If you used fewer items than you were supposed to, store leftovers until you have 8 items (up 1) ➢ Buy 1 Point Swap (or more if necessary to fill inventory) ➢ Get an Ice Storm from shop points (you can go without this if necessary)

Leave Glitzville

Recommended: Enter and leave Westside Goods to prevent a game crash when entering the Chapter 7 boss arena

Go down to the sewers through the grate

Open the Badge menu while entering Paper Mode above the grate ➢ Equip Mega Rush (down 1 -> A) ➢ Equip Power Rush (down 1 -> A)

Take the teleporter back to X-Naut Fortress

Go right and use the Elevator Key to go to Sublevel 3 (the second elevator) Go left to the third electric tile room and get the Card Key

Use the HP Drain in the block to get Jump Storage (toss a Fright Mask/Mushroom/Point Swap)

Go right and use the 3 Card Keys

Do a Super Jump to skip the conveyor belt Get the last Card Key when you land

Navigate the room and hit the stairs switch Use the Card Key to enter the final room

You should have the following badges equipped: ➢ Mega Rush ➢ Power Rush ➢ Power Bounce

Bowser Segment ➢ Go into Poshley Sanctum

Go to Sublevel 4 and talk to TEC Head to Sublevel 2 and go two rooms to the left Take the teleporter back to Rogueport Sewers

Obtain Jump Storage with the e-mail (or the Star Piece to the left of the teleporter room) Super Jump over the pillar to the right

Talk to Dazzle and trade in 5 Star Pieces for Item Hog (down 6)

Open the Thousand-Year Door

Get the Shooting Star from the block before the Bombshell Bill Blasters

Get All or Nothing in the spike room

Get the Boo’s Sheet in the fire bar room (toss a Fright Mask/Mushroom/Point Swap if necessary)

Encounter the Ember, and ride Yoshi past the fire bars with the i-frames

Dark Bones ➢ Mario: Supernova (up 1) ➢ Yoshi: HP Drain (down 2) on Dark Bones Level = 4.90

Get the Palace Key

If you only have 8 items for whatever reason, get the Ultra Shroom

Run between the Bombshell Bills

Go right to the room before Gloomtail Recommended: Save near Gloomtail's room to farm for an item drop

First Strike (hammer) the left Phantom Ember

Phantom Ember ➢ Mario: Hammer Level = 5.03 // FP = 15

Perform Palace Skip (use the Jammin' Jelly) Jump on the Phantom Ember before running to get to 8 HP

Hit the red “!” switch and use Yoshi to get to the Palace Key Hover with Yoshi to get the Life Shroom If you don't have an Ice Storm, hover with Yoshi to get the Shooting Star

Make sure you are at 7-8 HP (take damage in the spike room left of the plane panel if necessary)

Fall down and use the spring to get back up to the Plane Panel Fly across the room and unlock the door

Open the Badge menu before Grodus ➢ Unequip Item Hog (down 1 -> A) ➢ Equip Power Bounce (up 3 -> A)

If Goombella has less than 7 HP, you may want to hit the Heart Block before fighting Grodus if you can afford it (or use the Mushroom on her if you still have it)

Enter the throne room

You should have the following badges equipped: ➢ All or Nothing ➢ Mega Rush ➢ Power Rush ➢ Power Bounce

If you're using a Boo's Sheet on Turn 1, get the Ultra Shroom in the chest near the Heart Block (top of the stairs)

Get the Jammin' Jelly in the chest near the Save Block (bottom of the stairs)

Open the Badge menu ➢ Unequip All or Nothing (A) ➢ Equip Charge (down 2 -> A) ➢ Equip HP Plus (L -> up 1 -> A) ➢ Use the Jammin’ Jelly on an inactive partner ➢ If you're using a Boo's Sheet on Turn 1, swap to a partner with 8+ HP
