This is a step by step guide that, I hope, encourages people to try speedrunning „Fall of the Samurai“

Start:

-Play as the Obama, they are located in the most optimal position. In the beginning, you are at war with the Fukui, a weak neighbouring clan that would like to seek peace immediately

-To win, you ought to control 14 provinces. It is important to know that all provinces owned by vassals are counted as your own.

Round 1

-Move your main army towards the Fukui‘s capital

-Declare war on the Yodo

-Vassalize the Yodo (2) for 4000 and declare war on the Hikone

-Vassalize the Hikone (3) and declare war on the Tsu

-Vassalize the Tsu for 4000 (4) and declare war on the Toyooka

—>At the end of round 1, you control 4/14 provinces.

Round 2

-There is a chance the Miyazu take over the Toyooka, if that’s the case, just restart

-Vassalize the Fukui for 1000 (5) and unlimited military access and the Toyooka for all the money you still have (6). Also declare war on the Sasayama, who are always allied with the Miyazu.

-Vassalize the Miyazu (7)

-move the main army to the bridge on the Fukui/Kanazawa border. It is important the soldier on the campaign map stands on the right of the bridge, in the best case his left leg is on the bridge.

—>At the end of round 2, you control 7/14 provinces.

Round 3

-If you moved your army exactly in the right position, the Fukui should have sacrificed themselves by running into the Kanazawa army, thereby giving you an easy way into Kaga (8). If not done exactly correctly, you might have to attack the Kanazawa army first and than attack Kaga with only your general and the rest of the army in support. If you can do neither, your placement was wrong and you have to restart.

-Vassalize the Kanazawa. If you didn’t destroy their army, you have to offer unlimited military access (9).

—> At the end of round 3, you control 9/14 provinces.

Round 4

-If your main army isn’t in Kaga, move it into the city.

-The Tottori will declare war on your vassal.

—>At the end of round 4, you still control 9/14 provinces.

Round 5

-Ignore the rebellion

-The Takayama will have taken over Etchu province and moved their army close to Noto. Just take your army and run into Etchu (10).

-Vassalize the Takayama (11)

-Now you can see whether the Matsuhiro exist. If not, you have to restart, sorry.

-Declare war on and Vassalize the Matsuhiro (12) and the Nagaoka (13). The Nagaoka demand unlimited military access.

-Vassalize the Aizu by just giving them the most money you can offer over 20 rounds (14).

—> You’ve won the campaign.
