Champion rank (450 points) speedrun (the basics, point scoring etc)

Practice/route updates:
My best champion rank practice run is now under 5h 30min with 15 mission(14 models+1 hitchhiker) and not owning 3 Ferrari or 3 Aston Martin.
I've routed the first 3,5 hours. Grinding part is now only 4 minutes (maybe 11 times is enough). I couldn't get past 400 miles with this run so last thing I had to do was just drive like 10-20 miles to get that 30p for Champion rank promotion.

NOTE: 3-5 Top-Model missions is the fastest way to get 20 coupons.

Cars need to be different. Ford Mustangs(coupe/convetible) tuned into Saleen S281 are (at least 4 cars, mustang coupe+saleen coupe+mustang convertible+saleen speedster, for cost 130k total) counted as different as is Nissan 350Z and Nissan 350Z Nismo S-Tune is also two different cars, but this has to be testes properly.
You can sell the cars and houses you don't need after getting the points you want.

NOTE: getting 30 cars more for +30p not worth the time, and money grind needed to do this.

Car Collector:
+20p = buy 3 different Ferrari
+20p = buy 3 different Lamborghini
+15p = buy 3 different Aston Martin
+15p = buy 3 different Mercedes Benz
+10p = buy 3 different Ford
+10p = buy 3 different Chevrolet

You need to own all three cars at the same time to receive the points. I think buying Ferrari or Lamborghini cars is needed for that extra 5 points to reach Champion rank(450p) faster (Lamborghini is always better choice because they are cheaper combined and specially if you buy Miura for G-group races). Sell the cars after receiving the points unless u need to have them for own 20 cars points. U could still sell most valuable cars for half price(go to house and Trade-menu) and with that money buy 2 cheaper cars towards that "own 10/20 different cars"-achievement points.

Bike Collector:
+10p = buy 3 bikes

Not sure if they need to be different. Need 1 mB-class and 1 mA-class bike to do three bike gold cup challenges. You should sell the bikes after receiving points or after the three races are done (selling them gives also room for possible own 20 cars achievement).
Need to visit all the car showrooms to unlock the bikes.

Tuner:
+10p = tune 1 car (or bike?)

Houses:
+20p = own 2 houses

Need like 3x4garage +1x8garage houses (cost 150k+150k+309k+ 153->159k= max 768k) to hold 20 cars for the "own 20 different cars" points (or 150k+150k+153k= 453k cost for "own 10 cars" points)
You can sell the bikes away when there's no need for them anymore to make room for the cars..

Champion Rank route and more (2024)

In [this spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1L0PnbrkjwmcigsUoGEoHUeArev3wCpSx4UeZfR4EhoQ/edit?usp=sharing) you'll find the route for the Champion Rank category as well as a bunch of info to make the routing easier and also an attempt at routing categories that don't exist yet (all challenges + missions and all challenges) if you want to run all challenges and missions the estimate is 15h (personally did 15h23 in segmented but couldn't keep the footage, tried another run and was 10 minutes ahead at some point (lost everything to bad luck) so you can aim for sub 15) be aware that this category is a pain in the ass especially with hitchhikers.

I postponed the All Challenges routing, I might do it eventually but that would already be a better category to run.

Tour of the Island

Technical stuff: TDU has issues with high framerate that include invisible cars, problems with traffic cars AI (superfast lane changes, sudden stops etc.) and gearbox problems. All of this can be solved by locking your framerate to 80 and below. V-sync doesn’t seem to work, so I had to use Dxtory.

Steering: These settings are mainly for keyboard users.
	a) Cars - Steering sens - middle, Steering bars sens - all the way to right, Linearity - disable it (for some reason any setting makes cars very sensitive on keyboard)
	b) Bikes - Steering sens - middle to right, Steering bars sens - all the way to right, Linearity - enable (disabling it makes bikes wander off after you take a corner)

Tricks:

Manual clutch - automatic clutch is really slow, especially with cars like Corvette.
Hotkeys for menuing and map control.
Faster engine start - if you hold gas during map zooming, most cars will have its engine already started when the zooming finishes. You can even sometimesengage the 1st gear.
Events doesn’t have to be unlocked directly, you only have to unlock the road.
Skipping car changing animation in showrooms - simply double-tap right/left keyarrow.
Finishing events while still moving - normally you have to stop in a specific spot to finish an event, but you can also simply downshift to reverse to stall the engine and “glide” there.
Money glitch - when you do an instant challenge againts AI car, you normally win the amount you used as stake, which can be set up to 10k. If you then buy a house or a car, you will somehow get extra double the stake money, which is 20k. So basically with every instant challenge, you can win up to 30k. This glitch can be stacked infinitely. Found by Grim.

Route:

The whole point of this run is to reach Expert level as fast as possible and then do the Tour of the Island race, which is pretty much the “ultimate challenge” in this game. In order to reach Expert level, you need 180 points that you get by completing various tasks that can be found in Game progress in your house.

Starting off by renting Mercedes since it’s the fastest car from the lot. Cutting one corner saves a bit of time.
We buy a house and Audi TT. You can also buy S3, SSR, Saturn Sky or Alfa Romeo, but S3 is too slow, SSR is even slower, Sky is also very slow, and AR is too far away from the first race and we don’t get anything from it in return (there’s a girl we can unlock, but it’s slow and limited to F class).
Driving to the first race using 2 small shortcuts and a little bit of detouring to unlock Nissan showroom and Enzo delivery. Since you only have to unlock the road the even is on, I simply drive into the opposite lane and reset the car, which is faster than doing a U-turn if done correctly.
Rookie’s race - very easy race with a small handbrake turn at the finish line to line up the car for upcoming driving.
Driving back to your house involves a small shortcut and unlocking another race. 
Cute little race between friends - another easy race, this time with a small shortcut at the beginning, which saves up to 2 seconds.
Enzo delivery - probably the hardest challenge in this run since we have to drive in opposite way (it’s couple seconds faster) and in kinda heavy traffic. Pavement and bumps on highway can easily make you spin. There’s one corner on the highway, where I use wallgrinding due to lot of small bumps and traffic. This event has to be done without a single crash, so we get the full 120k.
Asphalt eater - I do a bit of detouring in 2nd lap to unlock a real estate agency, which has a cheaper 6 garage house than the one at the start and it’s also closer.
We buy Corvette Z06 and unlock Little challenge with it. Unlocking this event during Cute little race between friends is possible, but slightly slower.
Little challenge - this should be renamed to “No challenge at all” since we drive Z06 against E-F class cars.
Now we need to grind instant challenges to get 225k in order to buy 6 garage house. If you’re wondering why did I buy that Corvette, it’s because we need to do 14 challenges anyway to have enough money to buy everything we need. The idea is to finish Little challenge, turn around and wait for AI cars to spawn (up to 4), then challenge them. Unfortunately you need to challenge either a really fast car (Gallardo, XJ220, MC12) or any bike. Only these vehicles allow you to stake 10k, other cars will give you either 1k or just 100 bucks. Then you have to select a finish, but because the game is dumb and measures the distance via GPS, you can simply select the finish in opposite way and complete the challenge in just 5 seconds, or 7 seconds if you need to turn around. 
Once we have 225k+, we buy a 6 garage house and teleport near Ford showroom. 
Now we buy 2 Mustangs, S3, couple Chevys, Saturn Sky and 2 Nissans.
We take the Nismo 350Z, drive to the Mercedes showroom (unlocking it earlier takes about the same time as unlocking it this way) and we buy 3 cheapest Mercedes while selling all of our cars and 6 garage house.
It’s time to upgrade our Corvette to stage 2 since stage 3 is actually slower.
Once it’s done, we take Yasmin to wherever she wants to and get 5 coupons from her. If you don’t do this perfectly, you have to restart.
We unlock Pure acceleration and complete it. It’s possible to unlock it while driving Yasmin, but it’s either not faster at all, or it doesn’t unlock Lidia.
We take Lidia for a ride in 300km/h in opposite way.
Then we buy 10 pieces of clothes.
Now we just teleport near the Tour of the Island and unlock it. While doing so, we should get the last achievement that is required to reach Expert level. Unfortunately there is no quick way to know how many miles you have driven so far, so I teleported a bit farther just to be safe.
Tour of the Island - there’s one small shortcut before the very first checkpoint, but other than that, it’s just 40 minutes of pure driving. Wallgrinding sometimes works, but it seems to be quite random, so I decided to not do it. I also have to be careful with some jumps and bumps, which can make you crash or spin.
