Amateur League Champion Guide

Hello, today I will outline the basic strategy that I use for my Amateur League Champion runs. Please keep in mind this guide is based solely on my experience and some of my strategies may not work for you, or the rng might change the run. However, I haven't had any problems with these strategies so far.

Because it is the start of the game, and the meta is the same each time, this run has much lower rng and higher consistency compared to the other categories.

At the start of the game, I recommend scouting and signing one player and using them throughout. This doesn't add much time and helps with match security. You then go into a tutorial match. It doesn't matter what champions you pick, or who you ban as you will surrender as soon as you can. Then we start the actual splits.

Split Strategy: Each split is broken up into 7 weeks (7 bo3 matches), with a 5 round bo5 playoff. Ideally, you don't lose any bo3 matches (except for surrenders), get the first seed (only have to play one playoff game), and win the bo5 in 3 games (I will outline my champion strategy later in the guide).

This alone is pretty straight forward but what makes it more complicated is the option to surrender. Surrendering twice (both rounds of the bo3) saves around 1:30 which adds up over the run. Ideally, with the right RNG, you will be able to surrender 4 matches (8 rounds) in your run while finishing as the first seed.

For the first split, don't surrender unless you pick a comp in round 1 of the bo3 which you feel will lose (in which you surrender both rounds). If you pick a losing comp in the 2nd round, you can either surrender and play the 3rd round(loses about 30 seconds overall), play it out, and hope you win anyways (this is what I'd recommend especially if you're alright with resetting your run after), or just reset your run.

The only exception to this resetting pattern is if you pick a bad comp round 1 against the 2nd place team (as you want to have a tied record at the end of the season). Losing to this team removes one potential surrender, losing time. If this happens you can just follow the same rules for the 2nd round listed above, or just surrender both rounds anyways (I wouldn't recommend this but it's an option).

For the 2nd split, you will ideally surrender in 4 of the 7 matches if you didn't surrender in split 1. Try and surrender against 4 of the 5 lowest-ranked teams, as they pose no threat to your playoff seeding. After you use 4 surrenders, don't surrender any more as it will cause you to lose seeding.

One last thing about this 4 surrender rule is that it's solely based on my experience and expects the 2nd place team to finish 10-4 on the season (assuming you beat them twice). This has happened in all my saves so far, but rng could maybe allow them to finish 9-5 or 11-3 which would add or removeve a potential surrender. If I find any changes I will update this guide.

Next up we have Team Comps:

The ideal comps for this run are pretty simple and stay consistent throughout the run.

First up is bans, I permaban Fighter and I recommend you do the same (as he adds the least and poses the greatest threat) but you could also ban common AI picks such as Knight. The AI also picks Ninja a lot but all the recommended comps beat any team with ninja, so I wouldn't ban it.

The most ideal comp is Swordsman and Monk, These are the 2 strongest champions during this run (in that order). If one is banned out, Archer is a good replacement for Swordsman, and Knight is a good replacement for Monk. You'll ideally want to pair up one of Swordsman, Archer with one Monk, Knight. If left unbanned or picked, Fighter and Ninja could also beat specific comps (fighter replaces monk/knight and Ninja is really good against squishy comps), but outside of those 6, I wouldn't recommend picking anyone.

The 2nd split adds 2 champs: Sniper and Ice Mage but they both are really weak on release. You could potentially replace Archer with Sniper, but I've never used it before.

Other Tips:

The 2 players you want to use are Swordsman/Archer mastery default and the person you recruited (or the monk mastery default if you did not recruit anyone). When selecting the players to use in the first match put the swordsman mastery in the first pick spot, as you will ideally first pick swordsman the most giving him a buff without needing to switch order.

Also, using the A and F keys to access menus and skip text saves a fair amount of time over the course of a run, so I recommend it, although it isn't required.

Another time save (which I didn't do in my run) is to detect one of the players when you're registering your team, removing any chance of 3/3 reactions in post-match discussion. This probably wouldn't save that much time, but it's an easy time save regardless.

Thanks for reading!
