The video shows a method of clipping using a combination of pause buffering, fast-forward spam and jumping.
Insane find! Hopefully we all can find good use for it. Anyways, I've been testing this for a bit and have noticed some things of my own. Warning: Wall of text inbound.
¤This trick is fps dependent. Unlike other tricks, however, higher doesn't appear to be better. Limiting the fps to around 30 seems to be the butter zone for me. This has allowed me to get to floor 6 somewhat consistently.
¤It's hard to tell what's happening from your video, but I don't think you're clipping through the elevator door. Here's what's been happening to me: The clip along with the use of FF pushes me into a little pocket between the elevator doors and the elevator shaft. From here, I then use FF and because the pocket is so small, I either clip into the elevator shaft or outside of the elevator shaft. This can be done on all floors of the tower, but if you clip outside of the shaft on floor 0, you end up in floor 6.
I was able to clip through a normal, 90 degree corner ONCE. Here are my guesses about how it works.
¤In order to clip through any wall you must be more than halfway through the wall. If you are almost exactly in the middle, then you can pick up the object you're clipping with and still be inside the wall as long as you don't press WASD.
¤When clipping, jumping is the only thing that pushes you though a wall. I'd assume that being able to clip through a wall is all about getting the perfect jump. FF helps, but I'll cover that in a bit. Also, you will not be able to jump if you go too far into a wall.
¤Spamming FF and pause doesn't help push you father into a wall. If you go far into a wall and start spamming these buttons, they will actually push you OUT of the wall a little bit. This can be used to retry jumping OOB without picking up the object you're clipping with.
¤Holding FF does seem to help. Can't really confirm this, but considering I used it when I got my one clip, and it helps with the elevator clip, it's very likely it helps.
¤Not all corners react the same. Even if they are 90 degrees.
¤It seems to help if the object you're clipping with is as close as it can be to the wall you're clipping into.
¤Disrupting the object you're clipping with in any way (even by keeping another object right next to it) will cancel the clip.
Also,
¤There is a slightly different method of escaping any elevator and clipping into it's shaft, without the use of FF. If you partially clip into a side of the elevator and then start moving up or down, you can escape. If the elevator moves up, you will clip out the bottom of the elevator. If the elevator moves down, you will clip out the top of the elevator. Note that it's quite a bit hard to clip out of the top of an elevator. Also, you can grab the object you're clipping with on the way out in both cases, but this is hard to do.
¤This glitch might also be able to get us to the eternalize ending. There is a white box behind the large doors in C that actually acts as a teleporter that takes you to the eternalize heaven. If we could clip outside the B shaft, then we could probably make it to that box, as part of the B roof around the elevator is solid, which is above the teleporter. Also if we could simply do a partial clip into the C doors, we might be able to touch the teleporter.
Hope that helps in any sort of way!
Wait, you actually clipped through a solid, 90 degree corner? I worked out that the clip only works in the elevator and Floor 3 where we clip to the star because in those corners there is a small gap you can squeeze through, as you said.
But if you can actually clip through a 90 degree solid corner... well this raises many questions and theories.
First of all, can it be done without FF? If so, Messenger% will become less than 15 minutes and also even Eternalize% as you mentioned. I'd like to know more about how you got it to work, because everytime i've tried in the past, grabbing the object always pushed me back inbounds.
I kinda hope it isn't possible without FF, because those 2 categories above will be practically the same and very short, ending with a probably inconsistent clip. We could decide that it isn't allowed, and only an exception to the Any% category like FF is, but i cannot decide that on my own.
But yeah, so what you're saying is, that 90 degree corner where i attempted to clip through in the video is possible?
Ooh you got a clip for floor 3? I looked for one and couldn't find one.
But yeah, I ended up clipping through that corner 3 times. So it's repeatable, just not consistent. At all. I also doubt that it can be done without FF. It always pushes you out when you don't hold FF. FF lets you "sink" into the wall so you can get as far into it as possible. Honestly, I wish that this didn't use FF and we found a consistent way to replicate it. It's a great skip, but it's sooo annoying.
Oh and I don't know if it's possible to clip out of your corner, but I'll one up you. I managed to do a game-winning clip into the tower from floor 1. I'm gonna see if I can get a recording of it.
