This is a deceptively hard trick. Performing the d-boost so you get max speed is actually not what you want to do. Doing that will always land you right into the spikes. What you need to do is purposefully lose some speed in air so you land right before the pit, and then jump again immediately to make it all the way across. You also need to perform the fall in the room before optimally or you'll miss the spider cycle.
