How to enable 144FPS in Sonic Colours: Ultimate - [Steam version] [60hz Monitor]

>Open Steam>Game Library>Sonic Colours: Ultimate>Right Click: Properties

This window should show up:

Type "-frameratecap=144" in the starting option tab on the bottom and start your game. Also make sure to select "Fullscreen" and turn off "V-Sync" in the video settings of the game.

Livesplit + Autosplitter-Setup

## **The use of Livesplit is usually never required for speedruns, however they prove to give you lots of information before, during and after a run. You can see where to improve on, handy documention and other benefits like the Autosplitter.**

## **This guide is to help new runners set up their Livesplit.**

- Right click on Livesplit and click **"Edit Layout"**.

- Click on the **"+"** and hover over Timer and select one of the two options.

- Select **"Layout Settings"**.

- Click on the option just selected at the top of the window under the Layout Settings title.

- You should see Timing Method, as default, it should be set to **"Current Timing Method"**.

- Select **"Game Time"** and click **"OK"**.

- Head over to this **[link](https://www.speedrun.com/sonic_colors_ultimate/resources/qdfr2)** and download the splitfile.

- Right click on Livesplit and click **"Open Splits"** and select the downloaded splitfile.

- Right click again on Livesplit and go to **"Edit Splits"**.

- Click the **"Activate"**-Button at the top.

- Press **"OK"** Twice.

- Right click on Livesplit again and select **"Save Splits"**. If you didn't download splits/made splits before, Select **"Save Splits as..."** and select a directory.

And with that you should be all set to get up and running Sonic Colours: Ultimate!

Note that the Autosplitter only works on PC.

Setting an FPS cap on the PC version 

This guide goes over 2 different methods of enforcing a cap to either 144 fps (the game's natural max) or 60 fps (the most common standard, equal to PS4/XBoxOne). A lot of mechanics in the game are tied to FPS and both have advantages and disadvantages. The game doesn't have an internal way to do this, but you can use these external methods to play at either of the recommended FPS caps.

Rivatuner Statistics Server
1. Download the latest version of Rivatuner Statistics Server at https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/rtss-rivatuner-statistics-server-download.html
2. Select "Add" at the bottom of the RTSS application and select your installed game's 'Sonic Colors - Ultimate.exe' file.
3. Change Application Detection Level to High.
4. Select "Framerate Limit" and select your desired framerate (60), then press Enter.
5. Ensure that "On-Screen Display Support" is set to ON.
6. Ensure that "Show Own Statistics" is set to ON.
7. To prevent the counter from flickering, ensure that "On-Screen Display coordinate space" is set to "Framebuffer"
8. Restart your game to ensure it is hooked in to RTSS.
9. If you want to change back to full fps cap (144), you can enter either "0" or "144" in the Framerate Limit field.

Nvidia Control Panel
[NVIDIA CARD OWNERS ONLY]
1. Download the latest version if you don't already have it installed at https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/p/nvidia-control-panel/9nf8h0h7wmlt?activetab=pivot:overviewtab
2. Open the Nvidia Control Panel application.
3. Select 3D settings > Manage 3D settings.
4. Scroll down in the Global Settings panel and select "Max Frame Rate".
5. Select "On".
6. Enter your desired framerate (60) and click OK.
7. Restart your game to ensure it is hooked in to Nvidia Control Panel.
8. If you want to change back to full fps cap (144), you can either enter "144" in the Max Frame Rate field or turn the function back off.
