Skip the intro cutscene and perform Moat Skip.

Go to Shifting Sand Land and grab: •In the Talons of the Big Bird •Shining Atop the Pyramid •Inside the Ancient Pyramid •Pyramid Puzzle [Star Total: 4]

Go to Lethal Lava Land and grab: •Red Hot Log Rolling •Bully the Bullies •Boil the Big Bully •8-Coin Puzzle with 15 Pieces •Elevator Tour in the Volcano •Hot-Foot-It into the Volcano [Star Total: 10]

Go to Hazy Maze Cave and grab: •A-Maze-ing Emergency Exit •Watch for Rolling Rocks •Navigating the Toxic Maze •Swimming Beast in the Cavern •Metal-Head Mario Can Move! [Star Total: 15]

Collect the star from the Toad in the Hazy Maze Cave room, then grab MIPS and get his star. [Star Total: 17]

Go to Dire Dire Docks and grab: •Board Bowser’s Sub •Through the Jet Stream [Star Total: 19]

Head into Bowser in the Fire Sea and collect the 8 Red Coins star. Defeat Bowser and grab the key. Cancel the animation and exit the course to return to the lobby. [Star Total: 20]

Immediately look up into the shining light in the lobby to enter Tower of the Wing Cap. Collect the 8 red coins, and press the ! Switch. Collect the star, cancel the animation, and exit. [Star Total: 21]

Go to Bob-Omb Battlefield and collect: •Behind Chain Chomp’s Gate •Shoot to the Island in the Sky •Big Bob-Omb on the Summit •Find the 8 Red Coins Star cancel, and exit course. [Star Total: 25]

Go to Whomp’s Fortress and collect: •Shoot into the Wild Blue •Chip Off Whomp’s Block •Fall onto the Caged Island •Red Coins on the Floating Isle •Whomp’s Fortress - 100 Coins •Blast Away the Wall Star cancel, and exit course. [Star Total: 31]

Go to the Princess’s Secret Slide and collect: •The Princess’s Secret Slide - Under 21 Seconds •The Princess’s Secret Slide - ! Box Star cancel, and exit course. [Star Total: 33]

Go to Cool, Cool Mountain and collect: •L’il Penguin Lost •Slip Slidin’ Away •Wall Kicks Will Work Star cancel, and exit course. [Star Total: 36] Go to Big Boo’s Haunt and collect: •Big Boo’s Balcony •Eye to Eye in the Secret Room •Secret of the Haunted Books •Go on a Ghost Hunt •Seek the 8 Red Coins •Big Boo’s Haunt - 100 Coins Star cancel, and exit course. [Star Total: 42]

Unlock the door to the 2nd floor.

Go to Wet Dry World and complete: •Top O’ The Town •Secrets in the Shallows and the Sky •Shocking Arrow Lifts!! [Star Total: 45]

Go to Snowman’s Land and complete: •Chill with the Bully •Whirl from the Freezing Pond •Shell Shreddin’ for Red Coins •On Top of Snowman’s Head •In the Deep Freeze [Star Total: 50]

Collect the star from the Toad near the entrance to Tall, Tall Mountain, then enter the course. [Star Total: 51]

In Tall, Tall Mountain, complete: •Mysterious Mountainside •Blast to the Lonely Mushroom •Scary ‘Shrooms, Red Coins •Scale the Mountain •Breathtaking View from the Bridge [Star Total: 56]

Go to Tick Tock Clock and complete: •Stop Time for Red Coins •Roll into the Cage •Get a Hand •The Pit and the Pendelums •Timed Jumps on Moving Bars •Tick Tock Clock - 100 Coins •Stomp on the Thwomp [Star Total: 63]

Collect the star from the Toad next to Tick Tock Clock, and go to Rainbow Ride. [Star Total: 64]

In Rainbow Ride, complete: •Tricky Triangles! •Swingin’ in the Breeze •Red Coins Amassed in a Maze •Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow •The Big House •Somewhere Over the Rainbow [Star Total: 70]

Now that you’ve collected 70 stars, make a mad dash to Bowser in the Sky. Get to the end pipe as fast as possible. Defeat Bowser. Time stops the moment you touch the Grand Star.
