new guy here, with an ACE idea

right so: arbitrary code execution. does it work in SMB1 the same way it works in SMW and SMB3?

If it does, could it be manipulated to change the way the warp zone in 1-2 works?

Why didn't anyone else think of this? I'm gonna press the ACE button I've been ignoring all this time.

i can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. I'm not trying to be stupid about this, I'm just curious. If I'm dead wrong about everything I've ever known then go ahead and tell me. If that isn't how the world works then cool

If the any% time is that optimized i pretty sure ace isnt possible

ACE aren't a magic button. I know 5-6 runs with ACE and it's not that easy. First, you need to access a memory place that you aren't supposed to reach. This requires a glitch/bug/exploit. Then some TASvideos guy route it so that they know what to input to that access of memory. In Yoshi's Island, you input the code to get the credits through the slots of the enemies. In Pokémon Midori, you modify the value of the door to access the door after Elite 4 (dokokashira door glitchu) In Pokémon Red/Blue (old route) you used to modify the slots of item to access the memory and modify the door aswell. In Pokémon Gold/Silver you used to have a party that had some requirements, then do a glitch so that the Coin Case reads the memory relative to the pokémons in your party to directly warp to post-Red credits. I can give more details if you are interested.

As i_o_l said, ACE isn't a magic button, and it's not THAT easy. And if it was easy, some TASVideos would have found it and said it. So unless you find some crazy glitch to do ACE, which I hope you do, ACE isn't RTA viable in SMB.
