Let's say you're entering a room in 8-4 through a pipe. Press left before he comes up so you don't have to do a frame perfect left press and when he's just come up and has just turned to the left release left as soon as you can to prevent him from walking to the left and the frame after you release left (you want a one frame gap between releasing left and the next inputs) press right while doing the smallest jump you can. It's a little confusing at first but always remember: press right at the same time you jump. that was the thing I struggled with for the longest time.
