Right after he enters the room with the bookshelves, there is a cut in audio and footage.
I'll agree it looks dodgy but you can't just assume from that one minor jump that it's spliced. Recordings can mess up, especially if it was streamed originally.
I think it's spliced. The bell should start bouncing when he jumps but it stopped when he jumped. Im not sure tho.
Look, it really feels like you guys are desperate to catch a cheater yourselves since it's been happening a lot lately, for example with Yoshi's Island. We'd need a lot more evidence for this and the rest of the run seems legitimate enough to me and I'm sure the moderators agree.
Thanks everyone for the responses and opinions.
Let me answer some questions:
I did not post this in light of the faked Yoshi's Island runs. I had heard of those recently, but I just decided to post this after having seen the footage over a month. I was not the only one to see this, I just found out by looking through the comments on the WR run itself.
I think Boo is an incredibly talented runner, and I'm not trying to call him out for an "obvious splice." This run clearly was reviewed thoroughly by mods (as it is a WR, which requires a lot of verification attention), and is most likely not spliced.
this is guy is very active in the rest of the community with ils and some other shit, so i highly douby this is spliced and even if it is, i dont think we have enough evidence to remove his run.
This isn't spliced, it's a capture card hiccup. Everything, the coin rotation, the level timer and the bell animation lose the same amount of frames, everything is where it's supposed to be. Also this would be like the weirdest place to splice ever, you'd want to splice during fadeouts or something like that, not while doing actual gameplay.
If it is was spliced, 3-3 would be one of the weirdest places to splice it, especially after losing a lot of time in 2-4. Also this run had a bad late game as well. It wouldn't make sense that he would splice it.
