There are two requirements that help immensely to get a great 50 point time.

1. Robot sequence. The sequence where all the robots come rushing out in and around you is likely the best RNG you could get. If you hit almost every one in both parts of the sequence, you'll get at least 50 points.

2. Quad guns helps immensely, especially in this sequence. From rough calculations, one second of constant quad-gun firing should kill approximately four or five robots. Dual guns obviously halve that total. This allows you to double your speed while constantly firing at and killing robots, which is about 70-80% of the time you'll be playing for, so there's a massive amount of time to be reduced.

Wide-area guns help a little bit too if you're able to grab that during the first part of the sequence, so you can hit a wider variety of robots during the second part.

Quad guns really help you focus on dodging things more rather than shooting, as the robot sequence is pretty much a massive clusterfuck of robots just spewing out of the top of the screen rather than anything strategic.
