MOUN| get running pimento, remove gyan, frayja and chester (technically frayja and chester can stay dead)
CAMEELA| Peter move left.  Then Peter goes toward the claw of the nazca ship stencil and uses the protect ring on himself.  Next turn he attacks a dragonewt and equips the quick ring (pegasus knight will be on the left).  On peter's next turn he will go first and you equip the running ring and then save for a double attack on Cameela.  The next cutscene will be slower, but it's still a time-save unless you would have crit her and oneshot her naturally. Reset the turbo code at the monk/priest after grabbing the brave apple from the jar. , Add jaro + use running pimento on him.  Give him the power ring

REDBARON| Peter down 11, Jaro right 2 and down, Peter waits on island for mist demon to take a turn, attack mist demon from bottom, Peter go left 10 down 1, Jaro buff, BDA lemon optional: save at mist demon
DWARVENVILLAGE| Put 4 MITHRILS on eric and promote him, save + manipulate rng for 3 valks, 1 mist javelin
Give 1 valk+mist to jaro, 1 valkyrie to higins, power ring to peter

HYDRA| Stay close to the top and buff Peter, BSA Hydra, ADD ERIC & HIGINS, fix valks and protect ring
ODDEYE| Give Jaro PROT ring >> Peter equip power ring against white dragon (optional), Jaro move straight up, Peter DA chaos soldier, Lemon save + reset turbo, jaro go up next to Peter, Peter gets in range for Odd Eye, Jaro buffs Peter, Peter BDA Odd Eye

Save at CREED + reset turbo

REAPER| Peter go up maximum spaces without being in melee range of enemies by equipping the running ring, but equip the quick ring after you got to the right tile.  You need it to outturn the demon master, who will finish peter off with freeze 4 if he does.  This is an optional strategy you can skip if going for maximum time save, but depending on your Peter it will be close.  Jaro can buff peter here, or eric technically.  Equip running ring, BSA Reaper.  Optional: Swap jaro's valkyrie to eric or higins and it doesn't matter if it's cracked

****This does change your approach going into the endgame, it's a bit less restrictive.  Apologies if I don't update this as it's good enough.

There are 2 setups for this fight (and many more you could probably find if you were interested in doing that).  Setup number 1 is safer if you don't know your attack value.  If you do, then you are more informed as to which strategy you would like to do on this fight.

Strategy 1 with 138 or less attack 

KING GALAM| PETER 1 SPOT BELOW THE CONCRETE ON left/right, Jaro cast protect ring on peter, eric or higins buff peter, basically whoever got jaro's extra valkyrie (note: it is sometimes possible to 1 shot king galam).  Optional: use lemon to block on the right or left side (whichever you choose can matter depending on turn order).  

If you have 139 or more attack and want a different setup: https://youtu.be/7-NJZ-Bdy68  The save is to make sure you don't get stunned.  You are avoiding having to use the protect ring, it's a bit faster with turn orders, there's a few less attacks doing it this way, and you oneshot galam and that alone saves over a minute.

Strategy 2 with 139 attack or greater

KING GALAM| Peter equip power ring and save.  attack chaos warrior from the right side (optional, skip the attack).  jaro buff peter *(unless his valkyrie is gone, then you have to buff with eric or higins and pray they don't crack it or just save before you use it), peter BDA King Galam

Out of Bounds Glitch Tutorial & Explanation [WiP]

**__Out of Bounds__**
The requirement to execute the Out of Bounds glitch is two allies standing next to each other, plus the character you wish to send to outerspace. For the sake of an easier explanation, I’m going to use the Kazin-Bedoe snipe as an example (see video/picture below).

I move below Slade and half-step off him [up & right], I close the menu and quickly half-step [left & up] to achieve the proper tile position. I bring him downwards, close the menu and then press Up + C until he moves about ½ a tile and then quickly change my direction to down and let go of C.

Kazin glitches off Slade & Jaha, the game still thinks Kazin is on top of Slade despite he’s walking out of bounds.

Red Kazin indicates I can’t move because of obstruction flags, hence the buzzing sound before the menu appears. Green Kazin indicates the menu-buffer on the X axis after finally reaching an empty tile. Blue Kazin indicates the amount of quick menu-buffers I needed to do on the Y axis to successfully reach the archer. (13)

**__MAPS__**

There are approximately 78* separate maps that are all loaded individually throughout Shining Force 2. The Overworld is split into about 12 maps, while the rest are towns, caves, interior buildings, etc.

Every map has a barrier around it that acts as the camera; it indicates what you can see and stops your character from just walking past it, even in debug mode. Outside of these barriers can sometimes be used to just store scenery, a tileset, a flag ready to be copied over after a specific event triggers, a separate map entirely, or absolutely nothing. Every map seems to be a total of 64x64 in-game tiles.

Maps also have what’s called “Exploration Flags” and obstructed ones (red X), are placed throughout the maps to restrict you from walking & moving a character onto that tile.

When you movement glitch off two people and execute the OoB glitch, you walk past the barrier and into whatever else is loaded out of view in that specific map. If there are no obstructed flags past those barriers, you can freely menu-buffer across the map on either the X or Y axis depending on which direction you initiated the out of bound glitch. Additionally, when you've reached your desired spot, you can continue to menu-buffer back towards the map to reach further distances.

-> Moving someone **__UPWARDS__** outside the map & ending the battle has different outcomes.:

1. If you enter a battle animation (attacks, heal, items, etc..) and the cursor scrolls back to Bowie while he is out of bounds, he will be removed from the battle entirely. Ending the fight results in Bowie being placed  somewhere else on the map, whether he loops around it or just warps is unconfirmed.

2. If you don't enter a battle animation and Bowie continues to get turns out of bounds, he will remain in the battle. Ending the battle will place Bowie in the exact spot you glitched him out of bounds. *(Example: Peter one shots the last enemy without Bowie getting a turn after a battle animation has occurred).*

3. It will softlock if you have Oddler or the Fairy following you. Peter, Luke & the Caravan should not cause softlocks. Other followers unconfirmed.

**MAP 70** / Power Ring battle: send Bowie upwards off the map on his first turn. Apply rule #1 and he is removed from the fight, ending the battle puts him 3 steps below the cave in Desert 1.

SF2 Tricks - Part 2

         An addition to Kilieni's guide. Covers the more recently discovered movement glitches and how to combine them effectively.

**__Extended Movement Glitch__** : 
This trick was shared by NoWorries. You can half-step off any friendly character, open the menu, close the menu, continue to menu buffer and walk along your movement range to reach an extra space. Additionally, if your half-step is centered in the middle of the tile, you can walk forward in the direction you are facing to move an extra tile outside of your movement range without needing to pass through an ally. After a half-step you never face upwards or left, so you can't directly walk forward in those directions.

**__Slingshot__** :
The slingshot is a glitch discovered by NoWorries that utilizes half-step movements to place your character onto the edge of a tile, followed by rapidly pressing the menu button(s) while moving forward to gain a burst of momentum. This will push you through allies and enemies that are lined up together, potentially allowing you to move multiple tiles past your legal movement range. Unlike the basic movement glitch, you can slingshot left and upwards. If you slingshot an ally left off the screen, the game will softlock after ending your turn.  
                                                                                                                              
                                                                                                                              
**__Minimum Half-Tile Position__** :
The easiest way to setup a slingshot without needing another character on an adjacent square is to half-step in any direction, close the menu and quickly half-step again. You can keep half-stepping to move along the border of any movable tiles that another ally or enemy is connected to. Difficulty of this trick depends on how precise your controller is. If you are playing console and are having trouble with a used Model 1650, try replacing the old conductive pads with new ones.  
                                                                                                                              
                                                                                                                              
**__Extended Half-Step + Slingshot Combo__** :
By placing a single character as an anchor to achieve the proper half-tile position, you can use the extended movement glitch to move through enemies and slingshot through another line of enemies. This example avoids enemies from surrounding Peter or blocking his path, and still gives him the range to kill the Soldier on turn #3.

**__Slingshot + Half-Step // ¬ Slingshots__** : 
Since slingshots are just an extension of the basic movement glitch, you can combine them with half-steps to move in a right-angle formation. When mashing the menu button(s) during a slingshot, change your direction the moment you start moving between two allies/enemies.

SF2 Tricks.

This is intended to be a short guide that briefly explains the basic tricks used in Shining Force 2 speedruns, because no guide currently exists here. There is a far more detailed guide at http://www.gamefaqs.com/genesis/563341-shining-force-ii/faqs/72295 by tskisoccer. It is very thorough well worth reading.

First and foremost, Turbo Mode. 
This is one of several options accessible from the configuration menu. Access this menu by doing the following inputs  during the Sega logo when the game starts: Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Right, Down, Left, Up, B. Also, you must be holding start when you finish naming your main character, or selected the game you are loading. All other options must be set to no.

The Movement Glitch: 
If you have an ally at the end of your character's movement range in battle, you can Press C as you enter the tile they occupy to slide over them into the next tile in that direction. This only works to the right and down. You cannot movement glitch to the left or up.

The Half-Tile Movement Glitch:
Also called the Half-Step. This one is very difficult to explain in text. In certain circumstances, you can change directions as you're sliding over your ally's spot if the tile beyond is also occupied. This makes it look like your character is between two tiles. One of the tiles you are trying to go between must be a legal space for you to move to, otherwise you won't be able to move in that direction. It's much easier to figure out if you see it. Check out my Early Roft Video at the bottom of this guide.

Early Roft:
This trick is only worth mentioning because it's cool, and because the video also shows the Movement and Half-Step Glitches. It is no longer used in the speedrun. You can move Bowie out on to the water near the tunnel that leads to Parmecia in order to reach the town of Roft after Battle 6, in the field after escaping Galam Castle.
