A couple changes have been made that create problems for speedrunners in the type category that did not exist before. Here

1️⃣ Spaces are required Just adding a single character can significantly slow down times- especially when the space is used for most of the entries. This impacts runs such as the Regions of Malawi and the Parishes and Dependencies of Antigua and Barbuda.

2️⃣ No abbreviations This is a big one that adds on many characters that used to be unnecessary. In Parishes and Dependencies of Antigua and Barbuda, players used to type "stjohn" but now what would be required is "saint john" which adds 4 extra characters to each entry (except "barbuda" of course)

3️⃣ No rounding down times Your time could look so much better in the old version which times rounding down. If I earn 0h 0m 3s 999ms, it could just be 3s which could put someone at a tie even if their time was 25% worse in that scenario.

Now, how can you speed your time up?

1️⃣ Thinking ahead If you just have one entry left, make sure you can instantly type it in and know its name before it is even its turn.

2️⃣ Finger pattern This is one of the most important practices for speeding up your time. If you reset with ALT + R, you don't want your first keys to be letters that you type with those same fingers or hand. If there are 5 or less entries (with more than five entries it is time consuming), you can keep reseting until you get the ideal first entry, such as "Mohéli" which you can position your thumbs and index finger to type "mo" instantly without waiting a single milisecond (maybe a couple miliseconds.) Try to be aware of what fingers you are using and how to make it faster.

3️⃣ Practice Make sure to practice! You might not get it on the first try, but from the first couple tries to my most recent try on some runs I have halved my times. You can practice by just typing into a notepad and there are some custom typing tests online that are helpful. I can't believe I forgot to mention this, but using pin mode before you move onto typing is always a good idea. It can help you really lock in the locations. Practicing your finger placement for words such as "Anjouan" can be very helpful, as some words with four and five letters in the relatively same place may need practice.

4️⃣ Don't go overboard Just remember, you still don't need to use accents or capital letters to make words as short as possible.

Good luck on breaking some WRs and beating PRs. Just remember if you're not living up to your previous standards, just remember that some updates made it harder. I'm new to speed running and seterra, so some information may be incorrect. I hope this helped you a bit!
