This will have more content as I work on it, I can't write a whole guide in one sitting. I recommend turning off "guide updated" in your notification settings for this game.
Only 7 levels in this game use the duo glitch, so rather than have two separate guides, I have combined them into one guide, and the 7 other levels are included at the bottom.
#General Tips & Tricks
-
One thing that I highly recommend is to use both the up arrow and x key to jump. Having two jump buttons is very useful because many tricks in this game require you to press jump, and the release and repress the button very quickly. With just the arrow key, this can be both difficult and strenuous, so using both makes it much easier to perform high and low jumps.
-
I will refer to two different types of jumps in this guide: a high jump, and a low jump. To perform a high jump, you need to press jump and hold it to do a max height jump. Before you reach the apex of your jump, release jump and press it again quickly. This will activate the glide, and since you released before the peak of your jump, you will retain a lot of vertical momentum, resulting in a very high jump. This can be used to skip significant portions of the game.
-
To do a low jump, press both the x and up keys together, and then immediately release either key. This will register a small normal jump, and then releasing one key will trigger a glide. This creates a low to the ground jump that is very floaty, making it useful for covering large gaps or flying underneath a ceiling.
-
I highly recommend watching top level runs to get an idea of the route, as I can't explain everything perfectly in text. You also don't have to do everything exactly as I say in this guide. You can use whatever strats you want to get any time you want. I will just explain the stuff that I do.
#Level 1
-
This level is mostly just hold right and jump. It's pretty simple, you can fly over everything if you want, or stay close to the ground and jump over everything.
-
At the end of the level, you normally have to jump on the yellow switch to make it to the goal, but it's possible to skip it by doing a high jump. I normally start it after I pass the short wall that comes after the blue switch. When you land on the platform, jump again to make it into the goal.
#Level 2
-
The first part of the level is also simple. I just hold right for the first part, and jump up the stairs at the start and the pit with the spikes. You can just run underneath the two spiders, they won't be able to hit you.
-
The pink switch can be jumped over using a low jump.
-
For the next part, I do a high jump as soon as I touch the checkpoint, and when I'm close to the spider, I release the glide and bounce off of it. As soon as I land on the ground, I do a low jump. This setup ensures that the spider at the orange switch drops down quickly. If you land on the ground and run next to it, it will take a while to drop down, and landing on it will hit you on the ceiling, making it very hard to clear the gap or land on the next spider.
-
Normally, landing on an enemy cancels your glide, but by pressing jump twice, you can initialize another glide. I don't know if this is intended behavior, but it is useful for speedruns. By gliding after landing on the spider, you can get enough height to land on the next one. This allows you to clear the orange switch gap without slowing down or hitting the switch. The ending is simple; just bounce on the spider and touch the goal.
#Level 3
-
This level contains the first major skip in the game. In order to beat it quickly, we need to skip the snake bossfight. To do that, a glitch known as the "duo glitch" is performed.
-
To activate the duo glitch, press R to die, and when the sound effect plays, immediately press escape to quit to the menu, and then press space again to reselect the level. If you timed it right, shortly after you spawn, a clone of the player will appear. This clone has a few quirks; it cannot stand on semisolids or bounce on trampolines, but it also cannot activate the bossfight. By separating the duo and player, you can finish the level without starting the fight.
#Level 4
-
This level also contains a major skip. Start the level like normal by using the trampolines to get to the top, but don't progress farther than the checkpoint. Instead, run to the end of the platform and do a high jump. The goal is to land amidst the spikes, and then do another high jump to go over the top and get to the goal quicker.
-
There are three possible places to land, you want to land in the middle, but if you have too little height, you can land on the edge of the spikes and still make it, but it's hard (Rockentoon does this in his 5:05 personal best). You can also land on the edge of the second row of spikes, but that is also hard and not worth it. The easiest place to land is in between a gap in the spikes (this is done in my pb and Ero's pb, so watch one of those if you can't see where I'm talking about).
-
When you land, jump again and do a high jump, and you can clear the wall and go over the map. Drop back down and you can get to the goal much quicker.
#Level 5
- This level is yet another hold right and jump level. There are a series of pits, each with enemies inside. I land on the sides of each pit and do a low jump. The ending of the level has a bunch of spider on platforms. You can just run under these and be safe.
#Level 6
- Yet another hold right level, this one contains a lot of enemies that shoot projectiles, and has random enemy placements. They can spawn at different points on the platforms, and either walk left or right until the player enters a radius around them, when they will stop walking and attack. I recommend bouncing on the first and second enemies, and then gliding over the rest. I touch the ground at the second checkpoint, and then do a high jump to clear the remaining enemies and make it to the goal.
#Level 7
- This level also uses the duo glitch like level 3, but it is slightly different. Unlike 3, there is no tunnel at the start, and the trigger to start the bossfight is much closer to the entrance. Because of this, you will need to tweak your duo timings for this level, but it is the same principle. I unfortunately can't really describe my method, because it's a lot of muscle memory, but with practice you can get this trick consistent.
#Level 8
-
For the first part of this level, you have to jump up through some platforms and then drop down to get to a checkpoint. The first set of platforms are a bit broken and sometimes you can't land on them even if you do a full jump. For the second set, you can make it down safely by immediately running over the edge and dropping and hugging the left wall, but that isn't super consistent and if you get luck, you can die. It's safer (but a bit slower) to wait for both enemies to shoot, and then dropping down on the right side.
-
After the checkpoint, you need to jump to the top while enemies shoot at you. I recommend running back and forth to give yourself room to dodge the shots while you jump up. If you want to play it safe, you can wait for the enemy on the above row to shoot before jumping to the next platform.
-
After the third checkpoint, you can just hold right and you'll make it to the goal.
#Level 9
-
This level also uses the duo glitch. After the glitch, hold right and jump on the blue switch. When you get to the part where you normally go up to hit the switch, take the bottom path. When your duo get to that part, jump so that the duo is on the top path. Hold right until the duo is at the yellow switch, and then jump. This activates the door and allows you to skip running back through the tunnel to get to the exit.
-
Jump on the pink switch and glide to the end. When I get to the last checkpoint, I land again and do a high jump and glide to the goal.
