Legend suggested it, and I liked the idea, since Super Mario Odyssey and Speedrun 4 have one.
Rules are simple: -avoid doing forced jumps as much as possible (where you need to press spacebar or the jump button on mobile) -coils are allowed, but will be in a seperate category because you don't have to jump as much
idk you can think of more but this is only a thought of mine and I wanna see what everyone else thinks about it
ok so you're supposed to speedrun jumping as little as possible so does that mean that if one person submits a speedrun with 6 jumps and another submits one with 5, does that mean the run with 6 jumps gets rejected? that just idk man I Dont Get It arcie suggested something similar (jumpless category) for obby island ILs (which is probably what @bhop was thinking of) which i guess is more ok i'm still not sure about that though the point is i don't like the idea of a minimum jumps category
No it's basically you avoid jumping as much as possible, 5 or 6 jumps.
yea but there seems to be no definitive limit on how many jumps you're allowed to do so if you're competing at different amounts of jumps to be faster, it's more of a "jump as much as you possibly can without looking like you're speedrunning normally" contest than a "jump as little as possible, regardless of how it affects speed" contest
This idea came up when me and Steve were figuring out minimum jumps for grass, desert ice industrial and magma aren’t known for minimum jumps, also I approve of this idea.
There's a new update for Cool Obby 2 as of October 19th which adds another in-game event along with some crucial changes for speedrunning:
- Can now go from Stage 1 to Stage 250 with a button (after having beaten the obby).
- Optimization for most lava spinners in magma.
