It seems it is not useful as the game checks what objective you are on. Only way it could be useful is if getting something early would be faster or using it to get a faster line in a longer objective. Any kind of "Going to the boat" Doesn't work.
I am sure that we will find a way to use this trick. Nice find I mean : we will probably find a way to get OOB way earlier on the game, which might be usefull.
Exactly Hoobie, as you saw, he tries getting the keycards which in my opinion would be a huge timesave. If you get the keycards, go and trigger the Snake Key, come back up and directly put the keycards in, that's a huge timesave.
At this state, it's all about finding the triggers. If anything, exploring the game from OoB will be fun !
I got to the end barn before the final jack fight, mia and zoe were not there, im 100% that would have been the only skip that would have worked in the long haul, cause everywhere else you need certain items to do certain things and if you skip those items you cant progress, so skipping straight to the end before that boss would have been the only option, and that didnt work.
I may purchase this game this weekend and test things with this OoB glitch. In general, I feel people are thinking way too narrow, which seems to happen sometimes in speedrunning communities. My profession is to test software, so exploits like this have a much higher potential than just 'trying to skip to the end' kinds of things.
For example,
- This proves animations can push you through clipping.
- This proves that the game has no player physics, in terms of 'gravity'.
- This could be possibly be exploited on other animations, or allow you to clip through doors/walls/floors/etc, that normally require items.
- We aren't 100% aware of how all trigger sequences work, so there is still a potential to 'advance' things so that you aren't trapped in the area you clipped into.
- If possible, you might be able to clip into somewhere, and then clip out of it. It is quick and easy to do this exploit currently.
So, I'm really considering exploring using this glitch, since, despite initial findings, it could prove to be very valuable.
There hasn't been anything worthy of using oob in a run yet. The only way to trigger next events is to complete your current objective. Going anywhere unintended will result it you beeing restricted in actions or being trapped.
Hoobie, there are plenty of time-consuming cutscenes that would be worth skipping. The dinner table scene, the TV to Lucas' traphouse scene, etc. Really understanding how triggers activate and what they activate is the key. Again, as I've stated before, being skeptical of exploits doesn't help a speedrun community. Embracing them and searching for all you can, does. There is always more to learn about a game.
Unless you find other exploits to get out of bounds this one is seemingly pointless. And cutscenes let you go to the next objective/event. Would skipping work?
I can tell you after hours and hours of trying tons of different outcomes, getting the crank from out of bounds to lower the bridges, items in general, keys and stuff, this game is basically unskippable in my opinion, and i like to say i know what im talking about because i generally do, for example..... if you even just go to the basement without doing the shadow puzzle the game does not let you complete the puzzle to get the dissection room key so your basically screwed there, even getting into the lucas area right past the first door, the prompt for the cutscene on the tv doesnt work so again your fucked..... i could go on, i can tell you for a fact there will be no way to clip in this game without using an enemy no fucking way, i have tried so many different scenarios with this oob and nothing worked, and i dont think anything ever will, save yourself the money and dont buy the game if you just wanted to use this glitch cause you wont find any skips i can assure you, its like until dawn..... even skipping one action and the game will not let you progress.
Have vision, young padawan. When I found the seam glitch in Portal, the place I found it was seemingly 'pointless'. But, the exploit itself was not pointless. I had to search EVERY EDGE IN THE GAME and found one place that it was extremely useful. It allowed me to skip 2 entire chambers in the game.
Simply because this exploit was found using Jack in the house, absolutely does not invalidate the usefulness of the exploit, or limit the exploit to only that area and that instance. That's how speedrunning works. That's how it has always worked since I've been following the community from about 1998 or so. One thing leads to another, leads to another, leads to another, etc. You do hit dead ends with some exploits, but it is unwise to rule out an OoB exploit after literally only testing it for 1 day. Lol.
Well good luck then, if you find anything that actually skips stuff and saves a decent amount of time without softlocking the game later on i will glady apologise to you :P
Also one thing i should mention, you can go everywhere in the map up until you go to the big boat with this oob, so if you dont find anything with this, i doubt clipping anywhere else would be useful either.
No idea why you downloaded Trance's vod, there was already a 7 minute video on Youtube detailing it before any of us even knew about it. lol
There's also no real guarantee the only OOB exploit is done through this method. I've already had Molded pull me directly through geometry / walls in the ship section whilst playing.
Could you link to that video instead of just mentioning it? I can't find it. Also, in my search, I found your video:
Not useful since you can't escape that area, but I like your line of thinking.
I don't have a video of the pulling through walls thing, as it happened without me expecting it during playing w/o recording or streaming unfortunately.
Just a tought : you get the key into your inventory and then, you start the fight. So maybe we need to find some OOB to get out of the fight? If we are lucky, the game will cancell the fight and think it is done, as monsters disapears when you get out of the room.
I think that this is something we need to try.
So, I was able to find a skip, but it isn't one that saves time. The benefit of what I found is determining exact triggers.
- I was able to skip shimming between the wall after doing the bird shadow puzzle. The OoB allowed me to get the Scorpion Key early, but getting that key early isn't very useful.
- The bird shadow puzzle itself (completing it) spawns the dissection room key puzzle (the incinerator room).
- Next, I want to test to see if you can skip the dissection room key puzzle to go straight to chainsaw Jack. The reason this might be possible is, as far as I can tell, everything seems to be spawned correctly after doing the bird shadow puzzle. So, that might simply be the hitch pin for everything in the basement areas to work properly.
What about Madhouse, though? Doing that puzzle on Madhouse isn't necessary/required because you get the scorpion key from the cages, not the basement. So the trigger for the dissection room cannot be this, as you can entirely skip it, and that would basically break the game.
The eagle shadow puzzle I mean, by the way. Though for Chainsaw Jack, I OOB'd to get to the fight early without the key and the trigger for the fight simply didn't happen. Then once I had the key in my inventory, the fight would trigger, as in, picking up the Dogs Head emblem off the hook kicked the next stage of the scripting into motion. That didn't happen when I didn't do the puzzle + grab the key.
I never tested whether holding the key itself is the trigger, or the puzzle in the Incinerator room, but I will tell you one of those is entirely necessary to trigger the fight.
Thanks for testing that! I was going to do that next. It seems that the trigger sequence for Madhouse is different than for Easy/Normal. But, this seems to be another dead end since that dissection key seems necessary for the Jack fight. Darn. I have some more things to test, so I'm not out of this yet! :-P
Hello everyone
It has been brought to our attention that Cero D is becoming a really big thorn in our sides. Especially for PC runners. Some can no longer boot up the version. Because of this we will be looking into altering the times of the leaderboard. Right now the priority is PC. Since PC
