Feels like we're going around in circles here. The mods have made a decision and their not going to change their minds so just accept it. I think their reasoning is justified.

Thank you for the detailed explanation, Roo. Also, music that covers the game audio is essentially the same as entirely muted audio. They achieve the same thing, which is not being able to (properly) hear the game audio.

Audio is important because it is more integral to detecting splicing than video is. It's that simple. If someone submits a suspect time with music that totally covers the game audio or makes it impossible to hear there is really nothing we can do about it because linking video when splicing is far easier than linking both audio and video.

We had an attempt to splice a WR in an RE game as recent as like a month ago. Guess what enabled us to very easily detect it was a splice without sitting there for days trying to figure out whether it was a splice or dropped frames? The audio. Because there were blatant cuts to completely different parts of the track. That was a stupid attempt at a splice, but not all of them are.

It's not about suspecting everyone, but this is one of the most popular games on Speedrun.com right now. It's perfectly logical to assume if said game has no baring rule on music, those people are gonna have a fair few cracks at it because that is almost just asking for it.

This wouldn't be so much of an issue if so many of you didn't have such horrible taste in music, to be honest. /s

But seriously, attempts at splicing have occurred. I was cool with music over it if it didn't cause any muting of the video or make it too hard to hear the game, but it's gotten to the point people aren't being mindful of that.

It's also super easy to play music on your end without it being broadcast to the stream, so people need to stop acting like we made it impossible for them to do runs in a way they personally enjoy doing them.

So now, my run recorded on 14th of March is rejected as the one Xerian did on 16th was accepted. Wtf moderators ?

Link your run, the mod clearly wasn't paying attention to the date.

@Toast, I didn't reject the run, however the date in question is the "date played" date, not the submission date, for which you can insert anything.

As an example of what I mean, I could submit a run today and put the date played as February 18th, so the run would read as done 1 month ago despite the submission being submitted March 18th. That's how that works.

We were rejecting muted audio since the beginning.

If you can point out a few examples then please do, we'll be happy to re-look at them. Like Carci said in the discord, due to the sheer volume and length of the runs, sometimes little things get overlooked, we rely not only on us but the community to point these out so we can fix them. So please, if you know of any, show them to us and we'll look over them.

Then let us know time stamps for crying out loud. If you're going to complain about something let us know WHERE you're complaining about so we can verify and address it.

You're kidding yourselves if you think we watch the entire run from start to finish with the sheer volume. Skimming occurs and it's very possible to skim a part on accident.

Stop acting like Xerian is slipping us money to turn a blind eye to his runs. It's not like either of you are even close to his times in the first place to act like we're showing bias.

Personally, I'd say it should be rejected. I did so initially, and the ruling has always been muted audio = rejected, especially on a World Record run. To accept that is double standards.

I had rejected the run initially ( http://www.speedrun.com/run/0y6knpjz ) but the decision was apparently revoked and the run was then verified.

Who the fuck revoked it?

CursedToast, I don't know why you're being aggressive; I wasn't implying Xerian "had you guys in his pockets". That's fucking stupid. I only said something because I thought it was unfair Psarthex's video was rejected when Xerian's had muted audio. That's purely it. I know my time is shit. I'm not trying to get WR. I speedrun cuz it's fun, bruh.

I'm not talking you in specific (other than the comment on times, I suppose). People are acting like we're showing bias toward him at all. If you have proof a mod made error, just post time stamps and we'll fix it. It's that simple. I'm not trying to be "aggressive". I'm just annoyed at this entire situation. It shouldn't have come to this in the first place.

Alright, that's understandable. I know I wouldn't want to be a mod. It seems stressful and I don't think I'd enjoy having to slog through all the entries.
