Rejected the Console WR because he did infact use the Supply Box Pre-order bonus and defence scroll

New game only. But I'm pretty sure there's at least one part in Madhouse you can't do new game knife only. The Margy hole fight doesn't seem possible knife only new game. There's just too much unavoidable damage without the defense scrolls.

On easy you can do the whole run easily without NG+ items.

In the Margy hole fight, could you stock up on enough healing items to make it last that part without the defense scrolls?

On easy yeah. On Madhouse I'm not so sure.

You don't need healing Item in Margy hole fight, just duck down, stay at the corner and strike, you can't seems to die from the swarming bugs. I tried and also saw runner do that too

Regardless of whether it's "easy" defense scrolls aren't allowed.

Some enemies in the game are only designed to damage you down to 1hp; aka bugs. Just bugs really infact. The bugs in the hole can't kill you and a lot of the spider cabinets can't either, theyre just annoying.

I imagine in game design they thought "what if someone has no healing items and no ammo, and maybe even put their knife in the box; we can't punish them for not knowing an inescapable hole was coming". So short answer, no, the bugs in the hole can't kill you.

Also there isn't much discussion to the matter, knife only is NG only. No defense coin, scrolls, glasses, walking shoes, supply box, dirty coin, saw, nada, anything that comes from pre-order or from after beating the game (excluding madhouse difficulty, duh) is strictly prohibited and will be denied

Flying Insects (Small) Global ratio 3.34% Your deaths 1

Bugs can kill you in MADHOUSE and they are really good at it.
