I have noticed this as well and have done it a few times by accident butbit would have been nice if something that random was stated. It seems to work like 95% of the time when I did it
What difficulty was this on? I've tried it on Hardcore and Standard, but it just feels random to me.
I often do it in standard. Always on an angle never directly into. Any time it happens it catches me off guard. I think it may have something to do with the direction you are holding, camera or character. Away from where youre being grabbed, towards where youre being grabbed. There was another game that had the same sort of thing. Cant remember what it was..
I thought this was a known thing, I've seen trance talk about it because they give you a minor speed boost when you dodge them. I've seen him use it on the zombie in front of the gate to get to the gate a little faster.
Been looking back into this after a while because I want to try a knife only run (not infinite) on Hardcore, and this trick would definitely come in handy. Thing is, I can't get this at all on keyboard+mouse. I can get the actual grab setup (the animation at the start of a side grab), but I never escape it no many how many times I've tried.
When you mean snap the stick away, does that also mean you hold it too? Or is it just a quick flick? Is it possible that if you don't get the precise timing right, it just cancels any hope of escape as well?
whenever I've had this happen on PC, its completely at random. I got grabbed by the zombie outside RPD right before you turn the final corner before the gate during a run yesterday and I didn't touch any keys, I just kept holding forward and she pushed him off.
you can go through closed doors with this. FYI. Or well, I was in the process of unlocking a door and the zombie grabbed me and when i pushed him away it pushed me through the door.
