VERSIONS

Apparently, Steam version loads much faster than the retail one, thus it's recommended to use it.

CONSOLE COMMANDS:

Quake III Arena has a lot of "hidden" settings that is not accessible via in-game options. Therefore, you have to enter a command into console. You can set pretty much anything you want via console commands. As Quake III:Team Arena is the expansion pack for Quake III Arena, almost all the console commands from Quake III Arena will work in Quake III:Team Arena. Advancing to next level: Lower resolution gives you advantage since your mouse cursor doesn't have to travel as much distance.

Some useful commands:
-r_picmip 1-15: The higher the number, the less detailed textures will be. 15 makes all walls just one color, which is best.
-r_integrity/gamma: Brightness settings.
-r_fastsky 1: Disables sky.
-cg_forcemodel: Makes all enemies your model. Recommended is tankjr/blue. Unfortunately, it won't work in CTF.
-cg_drawgun 2: Makes your weapon "stable". Also helps to narrow your lightning gun shaft. I recommend to use drawgun 0 for all other weapons.
-cg_truelightning 1: Ignores ping for your lightning gun.
-cg_drawtimer 1: Shows in-game timer.
-cg_drawfps 1: Shows your framerate.
-com_maxfps: Limits your framerate. Recommended value is 125. Has effect on physics.
-cg_crosshairsize: Size of your croshair.
-cg_fov: Size of your field of view.
-cg_zoomfov: Distance of zoom.
-sensitivity: Mouse sensitivity. 
-m_pitch: Up and Down mouse sensitivity. It could be really helpful when executing rocket jumps.

MOVEMENTS:

-The classic strafe-jumping is the fastest method of moving. Hold forward, jump and add strafe left/right while in midair. You can gain even more speed by positioning your mouse cursor at a specific angle to the same side as the strafe key you're holding. This requires a lot of practice, so don't get frustrated if you can't do it exactly as other players.

-The circle jump is probably an even harder movement trick than strafe-jumping. It is used as the starting move or in case you just want to make a single jump. Stand still, move your crosshair to about 120 degrees (or 30 degrees if you prefer left side), then make a smooth mouse movement to roughly 0 degrees while adding forward+strafe left/right. This really requires a LOT of practice. If you can't do it, you can find video tutorials on Youtube.

-Rocket jump/boost: Stand still, aim directly under your legs, jump and quickly shoot. You can also do this while moving and you can also shoot rockets behind you or on the walls to give you a speed boost.

-Plasma and Grenade jump: Useless in single-player.

WALKTHROUGH TOURNAMENT% I CAN WIN:

-Fritzkrieg: Stay in the zone of Lighting Gun and the 25 health (up the stairs from Yellow Armor), so you have a nice vision of most of the spawns and you can refill your Lighting Gun ammo. If you don't see or hear anything, you know that sometimes the bot spawns up the jump pad in the Lighting Gun room and likes to head towards Plasma Gun, so you can intercept him. Sometimes he also likes to head towards Rocket Launcher, so you can intercept him from Yellow Armor.

-Pi: This map is quite luck based. The bot can spawn on the Rocket Launcher or the Railgun side of the map. As far as I know, most of the spawns are in the Rocket Launcher side of the map or near the Shotgun. If he spawns in the Railgun side of the map, he'll mostly like to go for the Grenade Launcher or for the Shotgun using the tunnel in the low ground area, so you can intercept him.

-Janet: The bot can spawn in the sides of the map, next to the Rocket Launcher (left corner of the room), next to the 50 health in the center area, in the low grounds or in the Railgun area. If he spawns in the low grounds, he'll mostly like to head towards the Nailgun and take the jump pad in the Rocket Launcher's room. That's where you can intercept him. If he spawns in the Railgun area and you are facing that zone, you know that he'll head towards the right pillar and stand for a while stuck on the right side of that pillar. You can anticipate shooting that position with your Rocket Launcher for example.

-James: The bot can spawn in the Yellow Armor side of the map, next to the Shotgun, next to the Plasma Gun or in the Railgun area. If he spawns in the Railgun area, he'll mostly go for the Railgun, but it can happen he goes for plasma too. As your first spawn will always be in the Railgun area, the best thing to do is to grab the Railgun and stand between Shotgun and Railgun area, so you can control most of his movements. If you're unlucky he'll spawn near Plasma Gun, but he'll immediately take the jump pad (so you'll hear it) and head towards the Rocket Launcher.

WALKTHROUGH CTF% I CAN WIN:

Basically, in this run you'll have to pick up the Scout power up (that doubles speed and 25% increases fire rate), but it's not available in all maps. When it's not available, pick up the Guard power up (that gives you health and armor boost up 200 with health regen) and use rocket boosts. The optimisation of your movements will save a lot of time.
In some situations, it's worth killing the enemy that shows in your flag area. It's better to lose a few seconds killing him (especially if he's equipped with the Guard power up), than waisting time to find the enemy that carries the flag. Also you better stay alive, because dying in this run could be extremely punitive or even run killer. 
Watch out when you're equipped with Scout power up, because it doesn't allow you to benefit from armor. You're very weak and death sentence could be very unexpected.

-Base Siege: Right after your first spawn, pickup the Scout power up, that you will find up the jump pad in your flag room. Once you get the enemy flag, pick up the Nailgun, which will be safer than Rocket Launcher. I feel like following the left way path (if you're facing the enemy's area) is slightly quicker than the right way path. Then, pray that the enemies don't capture your flag and stay alive! 

-Fallout Bunker: This one is probably the most consistent map in the run. Quickly after your first spawn, you just have to pick up the Scout that is on the right side of your flag area when going to the enemy's direction. Then pickup the Railgun, the enemy flag and take the Chaingun on your way back. Now, follow the center path which seems to be the quickest way. If you're careful enough, you can do the map without needing to pick up health. The enemies shouldn't have time to pick up your flag. If they do, you just use Chaingun on them and return the flag on your way back. Be careful of the Proximity Mines, they can troll you.

-Inner Sanctums: Scout is not available in this map. Right after your first spawn, pickup the Rocket Launcher and the Guard power up (in the left side of your upper grounds area). Then, stay in the upper grounds, because the jump pad that crosses the center of the map saves time. Once you picked up the enemy flag, do a Rocket Jump to go to the upper grounds and find your way back. You can also use Rocket Boosts on the walls, as your health will regenerate. Be careful of your Rocket Launcher ammo, and pick some that you can find in your path if needed. If the enemy has your flag, he'll mostly use the stairs in the direction of Doubler power up and the upper grounds jump pad, so you can intercept him.

-Scornforge: This map could be pretty much run killer, because the chances of dying are higher. Right after your first spawn, go on the right direction of your flag room to reach the center area and pick up the Scout. Then, go to the left entrance and follow the path in the low grounds. It allows you to do a nice serie of straff jumps that will increase your speed until you get to the jump pad that leads you directly to the flag. The bots will most likely capture your flag. If you are close to your zone and you hear that the enemy has your flag, you can head towards the Guard power up. The bots will almost always follow the path to the Guard power up in your flag area before getting out, so you can intercept them. Otherwise, if you are too far away, just wait in the center area as you don't know which direction they will follow to get out of your area. As anticipation to an enemy capture, you can spend a few seconds to kill them when they appear in your flag zone. Especially if an enemy is equipped with Guard power up, he'll be the one that will capture your flag most of the time.

-Teamwerkz: Right after your first spawn, go to the lower floor just underneath the flag, pick up the Scout (be careful of avoiding Guard power up) and the Railgun. You'll need the Railgun if an enemy equipped with Guard power up picks up your flag. Then, head towards the enemy's flag staying in the high grounds. In the center area, with Scout power up and a circle jump, you should be able to jump from the bridge directly to the enemy's high grounds area, where you'll find the enemy's Railgun and health if needed. After you picked up the flag, just follow the same path to get back to your area. This map could be a real pain in the ass when the enemy captures your flag. It's difficult to anticipate his path so just wait in the center area to intercept him. 

-Vortex Portal: Right after your first spawn, it's important to head towards the Scout power up (which you will find in the first floor platform on the right side of your flag room if you're facing enemy's direction) very quickly. Otherwise, your team mate has a chance to pick it up before you. Be aware that everytime you land on a platform after going through a vortex portal, you'll lose 10 HP and everytime you land on a platform on your way back right after picking up the enemy flag, you'll lose 5 HP. So be aware to recover health often. Never go through the center vortex portal, always use the vortex portals on the right or left side, they will lead you directly to the enemy's area. You can pickup Railgun if you have the opportunity, it will help you kill the enemy that has your flag, but it loses time to go for it. Nailgun could be a nice alternative.

-The Capture Chamber: There is no Scout in this map. Right after your first spawn, go to the edge of the flag's platform and fall down intentionally to the low grounds, so you can pickup the Guard. Then, take the jump pad in the direction of the enemy's area. After the jump pad, follow the stairs on your right to pick up the Rocket Launcher. You are now able to do Rocket Boosts to increase your speed and you benefit from a comfortable health regen. If the enemy has your flag, you better follow the center path to intercept him, eventhough sometimes it can happen that he follows the low grounds path. If you're lacking of Rocket Launcher ammo, you can follow the low grounds path to recover.

-Assassins' Roost: First thing to do right after your first spawn is to go down and take the path in between Guard and Doubler power ups, next to the lava pond, so you can pick up the Nailgun and the Scout. Then head to the enemy's area direction crossing the bridge. Once you get to the enemy's area, go on the right side and take the jump pad to go for the flag. On your way back do exactly the same path and you should be able to pick up the quad that will spawn on the bridge. If the enemy has your flag, he'll follow the same path as you do. You can intercept him near the bridge or even in your area, as he will fall down from the right side when your facing the lava pond.

-Overdose: This is the longest map of the run and it could be run killer if things goes bad. If you die or the enemy takes your flag, the distance is so big that you'll lose a lot of time, so be careful. There are a few things to know to avoid bad situations. Right after your first spawn, pick up the Scout power up, head towards the bridge and follow the center path in between the hills, to go for the enemy's flag. That's the quickest way as far as I know. At some point, during your way to capture the enemy's flag, it's very important to kill every enemies that you'll find near the bridge in your area or in the center area in between the hills!!! Otherwise, the time you spend to come back from the enemy's area, some bot would have captured your flag. If this happens, the flag holder will always climb to the up hills path, the one you can reach just behind your base. Pray that you're not too far away from your base once the enemy captured your flag, because you'll have to chase him and lose a lot of time.

-Dueling Keeps 2: This map is quite consistent. The only thing you have to bother is staying alive and having a good execution in your movements. There is no Scout power up in this map. Right after your first spawn, take the yellow armor and head towards the enemy's base. You'll find a Rocket Laucher in the center area. To optimise your path, make sur to jump through the windows that are situated on each sides of the center area and be careful not to hit anything that could ruine your momentum. You can also do a rocket jump right before taking the enemy flag or scoring, so you'll avoid the jump pad and save a little amount of time. Recover health and armor on your way if needed.

-More Trouble: This map is pretty consistent too, as long as you care about regenerating your health from time to time. First thing to do after your first spawn, is to head towards the Yellow Armor and take the jump pad. The Scout will be right behind you. Once you picked up the Scout, pick up the Shotgun too. Then, take the jump pad next to the Shotgun and fall into the whole that leads to the enemy's Yellow Armor, right after you land. You will find yourself next to the jump pad that leads to the enemy's flag. Do the same path on your way back, etc... The enemy shouldn't have time to capture your flag. If he does, make sure to intercept him in your base or wait for him in the center area.

-Stronghold Returns: First thing to do right after your first spawn is to go downstairs and pick up the Scout that is just behind the wall. Be careful of avoiding the Ammo Regen power up on your way to the Scout. If you pick up the Ammo Regen power up by accident, just fall down to the void to die quickly. I recommend to follow the low grounds path, which seems to be the shortest distance from flag to flag. This map could be definitely run killer, because the enemy will capture your flag very often and you might lose a lot of time to intercept the flag's holder. It's really tough to have a good estimation of the flag holder's position and you might get killed or die falling in the void if your movements are messy.

-Chaos in Space: This last map could be painful if the enemy that has your flag is equipped with Guard power up and the risk to fall in the void is very high. What you should do right after your first spawn is to pick up the Guard and follow the center path to pick up the Rocket Launcher. You can do shortcuts to go over platforms quicker while doing a Rocket Jump on the center jump pad that crosses the map. You have to shoot at the jump pad really quickly after it makes you jump. If you miss the Rocket Jump on the center jump pad, you have another chance to execute another Rocket Jump right after landing, on the next jump pad. This trick requires a good timing and is quite hard to execute properly, but it saves time. It's also worth killing an enemy that shows on your base, specially if he's equipped with Guard.
